"Samsung HL-S5086W"

Pros: Easy set up

Cons: Shuts off by itself
Summary: May go days working fine, then it may shut down by it's own. May take several attempts to restart, then ok. Safety or overload I would expect. Extended warranty though Best Buy. Hope I have no problem. Set one year old.

Called Samsung, Joe had aready faxed my info to servive vendor when I called to set up a service date between hanging up with him and calling vendor. Servive tech, in the next day. Removed the round cover "{one screw" on the top left and right side of tv and used his finger to fully open a factory set switch that had not fully opened by itself. Have had no problem since and picture quality improved 20%. Thought it was good before, now outstanding. Thanks Samsung for your outstanding support.

This is very interesting. My unit has also crossed the 1 year divide and is exhibiting shutting off repeatedly. We had it serviced once and the lamp was replaced six month after we purchased the unit. It worked fine but in the last 2 months it got so bad there's a service ticket on it. This time the service tech says it's a bad color wheel. It's causing a hum and he says the feed back loop is causing the unit to shut off. Unfortunately the color wheel is on back order and we are without a unit until the wheel comes in. I'll update this when the color wheel comes in and installed and I run the unit for a few days - hopefully without incident.
