"Better than I expected from the "professional" reviews"
4.0 starson by karasikdPros: Sound, non-HD images, interface, ergonomics, quiet
Cons: silver color, non-backlit remote, relative cost
Summary: I initially shunned this tv. Afterall, Consumer Reports and CNET generally didn't like this TV compared to the competition. But I backed myself into this because the tv nicely fit my cabinet (it would have been nice to get a larger screen) and, after test driving three models (Panasonic LCD and Samsung DLP), I found that this TV held its own in several aspects. The fan noise was noticeably quieter than the panasonic (equal to the Samsung). The sound quality is impressive (best of the three). The internal subwoofer really makes a difference and produces "near" surround sound effects. The onboard interface is slick (better than the Panasonic; same as the Samsung). While each TV produces a nice HD image, you might notice the difference that each renders a non-HD image. The Sony does a surprisingly good job here -- much better than the "experts" reviewed, in my opinion. The Sony has a cable card whereas the other two don't (not a factor for me since I have digital comcast).
What sealed the deal is that the Sony has a hidden input box on the FRONT of the set. It makes attaching things (camcorder, computer, etc.) MUCH easier.
The only downsides to this TV is what I listed in the "cons" section above.
