"Fantastic LCD Rear Projection HDTV"
Pros: Image quality, tons of inputs, audio
Cons: Red push out of the box, remote
Summary: DVDs and HDTV look great. Monday night football in HD was an eye opening experience.
Take the time to set this TV up. There is major red push out of the box. Follow CNEt's advice for the 50 inch version and then mess with the settings until you get it to where you like it.
There are tons of inputs on this TV. There is a PC in, and the component in on the side is a nice touch. The sound is better than I expected for normal TV watching. The simulated surround is pretty good.
Two things about the remote: It is not backlit, and it only recognizes Sony receivers. Trivial complaints at best.
For the price, you can't go wrong with this TV. HDTV on this set is unbelievable. I returned the 42" Samsung DLP because the image quality on the Sony puts it to shame.

CircuitCity had the Samsung DLP HLR4266W side by side with your Sony KDFE42A10, and while the Sony seemed a tad brighter, the contrast was much better on the Samsung giving it an overall better picture quality. Also, have you played PS2 games using Component inputs on this system?

Purchased my KDF-E42A10 about two weeks ago. Have a problem with the reds in picture. Adjusted and adjusted, but no luck in eliminating the problem. Also, sometimes picture is very dark, so much so that, you can't tell what is going on. Neither of these situations are constant; seems to change from day to day. Would be interested to know bdochoda's settings. Sound not as great as I would like it.
I am new to the big screen, HD TV scene, so maybe I am missing something here.
Seriously thinking of returning it to the dealer and choosing something else, maybe Samsung. Perhaps my Sony has a malfuntion. -
Would you mind sharing what settings you have your television at? I can't seem to lose the redness no matter what I try. Thanks in advance!

Is there a workaround if you have a different receiver? I have a denon that i really enjoy.
Also where on the cnet site do I find the setup advice you are refering to? Thanks for the help.
