"Simply amazing!!!"
Pros: Picture quality, PC input
Cons: Could use a couple more outputs, sound quality doesn't match the picture quality
Summary: This is an amazing TV!
For the KDF-E50A10 TV I paid $2050 (including shipping, no tax from the Sony Authorized Internet Retailer selling it the cheapest), and I bought the matching SU-RG11M Sony stand from Circuit City for $299 (that's their web-only price, and I'll also get a $29.90 gift card rebate from CC). The stand fits the TV perfectly and is beautifully designed and built, so I'm glad I got it instead of a generic one. I'm using the stand's center channel speaker shelf for my satellite tuner box.
One thing that's great about this set is that there isn't a large overbearing frame around the picture (unlike last year's 50" Sony LCD TV). Progressive scan DVD content via component inputs is stunning, as is HD over-the-air broadcast material. DirecTV standard definition content via S-video input is very clear as well and I have no complaints with it (some day when DirecTV offers more HD content I'll spring for a new dish and tuner box, but that seems unnecessary given the current lack of DirecTV HD programming).
I evaluated the picture with a THX calibration DVD and found that the out-of-the-box settings were almost exactly where they should have been. I hooked up my laptop to the PC display input, attached a wireless mouse and keyboard, and have really enjoyed using the set as a computer monitor.
Sound through the built-in speakers is adequate, but I've experimented with a set of computer speakers and subwoofer hooked up externally and am pleased with the results so far. As always, the Sony remote control is easy to use and makes intuitive sense.
My only complaint is that I wish there was another set of line out RCA jacks or a headphone jack.
Overall I'd say the set looks even better than it did in the store where I first saw it. I would buy this TV again in about 2 seconds, especially for the price.Updated
I recently bought an upscaling Sony DVD player and connected it via the HDMI input on the set. The picture is even better than via component inputs I'd been using previously with a non-upscaling DVD player.

Very good review. My father-in-law is looking for a set and knows very little about HDTV so I am helping him. He lives in Palatka and if you are in Cresent Beach, Fl could you direct me to the store where you bought yours? Any help would be appreciated!

Are you flippin crazy?? This TV is awful out of the box! you either work for sony or your trying to fool people for some reason. The TV is pretty sweet but i certainly wouldn't say it doesn't need a lot of tweaking out of the box
