"It a winner... I thought"
Pros: Excellent Picture and Sound
Cons: Down converts DTV signal 720p to 480p
Summary: The average review rating for the television is accurate. It has a wonderful picture: huge, crisp, colorful and clear. However, I was disheartened to find out I am not really watching high definition at its true resolutions of 720p and 1080i. Page 41 of the owner's manual clearly states (as a note) "... that 720p is displayed as 480p". It does not mention anything about 1080i begin down converted. But common sense says, if it doesn't do 720p, it probably won't do 1080i at its true resolution. For time I have own this television, I was under the impression I was actually seeing true high def as it was being broadcasted. Major dissappointment. Knowing that 720p has about 2.2 times the resolution and 1080i has about 5.1 times the resolution of 480p, I now have to consider purchasing a television that is capable of displaying hdtv in its true resolutions. Why must major details such as these always be hidden in the text and not exposed upfront? I won't make the same mistake twice. I can guarantee you that.
