"Great Picture till the lamp goes in 6 months ($275)"
Pros: Good picture
Cons: Reliability, Support, Cost of lamp, availability of parts
Summary: TOSHIBA WARRANTY STINKS - I have a 52HM84 the bulb is bust after 8 months about 600 hours instead of the estimated 8,000 and Toshiba has no bulb for the last 25 days and still waiting a bit extreme for $3000 TV and warranty repair - I wonder if Toshiba has some defect that the bulbs are going after about 6 months and they are running short on them. Want to buy a TV that it needs a new bulb ($275) every 600 hours instead of every 8,000 say every 6 months rather than 6 years and Oh you don't have a TV for a month while Toshiba finds a lamp. AFTER MY EXPERIENCE I WOULD NOT BUY THIS TV EVEN THOUGH THE PICTURE IS GOOD - I BOUGHT DLP FOR RELIABILITY HELL I COULD GET A PLASMA IF I WANTED A HEADACHE

Hahahahahaha - I've owned one of these for 3+ years. I've had to replace 4 bulbs and 2 system boards - DO NOT BUY THESE PIECES OF CRAP!!!! The TV has been down for at least 4 months (I;ve also had 2 system boards replaced). Good thing I bought an extended warranty and a lemon guarantee!!! This baby is gone in the next week. Time to get LCD or PLASMA. Never again will I buy DLP...

I agree, we blow a bulb every 2 to 8 months. It's TERRIBLE, I feel stuck after investing $3000 !!!!!
ANYBODY HAD ANY LUCK W/ GETTING TOSHIBA TO FIX THIS PROBLEM???? Brian.Morse@RHMR.com -
We have had this TV for under 2 years and we are already on our third bulb. When the TV is working, the performance is great, however, this is a problem that absolutely cannot be overlooked. I would NOT recommend this TV because of this issue.

Do not buy Toshiba DLP tv's Lamp burns out every 500 hours ,3rd one so far.Customer service sucks.I am taking them to small claims court.I have filed a lawsuit against these bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My lamp just went out after 3346 hours, not what they say you will get out of them, but much better than you recived. Any body know how to access the lamp hour meter on the menu?

This user states it has a fine picture yet downrates the set for lack of a bulb and states that Toshiba's warrenty stinks. It is not the warrenty that stinks, it is the bulb life for HIM. Did he buy this at Circuit City who would have provided a bulb under the contract? He is obviously upset about being with his TV for a month but put blame where it is due- his particular bulb life, and not downrate the TV.

I bought my TV in November and it burnt today. Toshiba was only guaranteeing them for six months initially but recently changed to one year so I am OK.

I've had Toshiba 52HM84 since November and view it on the brightest mode possible. I've seen no deterioration in the color or brightness at all. This is an awesome TV....I work in a retail store and have sold many, with no complaints

we've had our 52HM84 well over 8 months and haven't replaced the bulb yet (and watch a lot of TV). Regardless, even when it goes out you shouldn't have to send the TV in somewhere to get serviced. Change the bulb yourself! It's not as hard as people make it out to be!
