"It's a good set, but I had it for a month and a half and immediately needed service."
Pros: Picture Quality Great when used properly (HDMI/Component)
Cons: possibility of defectiveness.
Summary: When I first got my 62" I was thinking of starting a month by month analysis of the t.v. here on the net but I decided not to. Like some of the reviews, 1st thing I noticed was pixelation, or "grainyness" of the picture when using the anything under HDMI and Component. But I guess that was because of the size, I talked to a few people about it and they told me it was because since it was so big that everything is going to be magnafied. And when I seen the 52 on display on component DVD, it was like night and day. But I still researched for another month or so until I was confident enough to purchase one. I settled on Toshiba mostly because of it's reputation of being a more reliable brand. And at the time (Late Jan. 2005) a majority of people I talked to from BestBuy to Crutchfield, Online to your local store, told me that of the big brands,(Samsung/Sony/Mitsubishi/Philips)they were having more "luck" with the Toshiba. Since I already knew of it's rep and with the good reviews I bought it in the early part of February. Enjoyed every bit of it, couldn't ask for a more enjoyable viewing experience, only wished that I would have had a sound system to go with it. But, a month and a half goes by and a little purple spot about 1/2 and inch in diameter starts to develop in the middle of the top part of the screen. I start troubleshooting thinking that it maybe a dust particle on the light or something, I call it in. A week goes by and the thing is getting bigger. It finally when into the shop this past week and I hope that that is the only servicing I will need. Which is why I gave it the rating I did. If this thing has to back any more times, you'll probably see it go down some. Now I've read alot of reviews about this set and most of them are pretty good. Which probably means that this is a pretty good set. I've done alot of research hoping that I would choose the right one, but as I soon found out with MOST PROJECTION TELEVISIONS it's a craps shoot, you'll never really know if you got the right one. My suggestion for all who are thinking about getting a Big Screen, whatever the brand, forget the style, it's about substance and the knowledge the that the damn thing won't F*#k Up on me. Do ALOT of research and GET the extended warranty, may cost abit more but BELIEVE ME it's worth it! By the way, Month 3 SERVICED!
