Escort 7-Band Radar/Laser Detector

"Escort Solo S2 Radar Detector" on by biggestgreg
Pros: Works as good as other wired units
Cons: Just a tad overpriced
Summary: I tested it against my Valentine One and my Passport 8500 and it alarmed at almost the same time, although it stopped alarming when the threat passed while the Valentine changed its signal (to the "behind" arrow instead of the forward arrow). I had all three spread out on my windshield and the Valentine alarmed 1/2 second sooner than the others. I use the S2 on my motorcycle.

"Excellent performance if you're willing to pay." on by fivestrung
Pros: Cordless, user-friendly, very good default settings for novices
Cons: Price, battery life
Summary: A lot of bang, but for a lot of buck.
The performance of this detector is light years ahead of the original Solo product; the false alarm filter is so good that I was beginning to think that the detector was not working properly. A few dozen passes through real speed traps, however, has triggered the few dozen alerts I have received so far with 100% accuracy, and I have full trust in the unit. Range is fantastic, surpassing every radar detector I have ever owned in the past. Laser detection is stronger than I expected.
The screen can be difficult to read in bright daylight, though the display adjustment based on ambient vehicle light is a slick feature. Besides, a very clear audio pattern outweighs this minor complaint. The only other complaint is the battery life - expect about 24 hours total usage time at most out of a set of batteries. However, the convenience of not dealing with a power cord as well as a great low battery warning system is worth the few bucks spent in batteries here and there. Also, a very attractive carrying case for the detector, the mount and an extra set of batteries is included, packing beautifully and compactly for setup in any other vehicle. Outstanding product overall!Updated
Almost a year into ownership, and I learned that stuffing it with Energizer e2 Lithium batteries (the silver and blue ones) eliminates any complaints regarding battery life. -
"Cordless without compromise" on by joegillespie
Pros: Cordless without compromise
Cons: A little pricey for a radar detector.
Summary: Bullet proof. Easy to set up. A sleak footprint unlike the Valentine

"Decent product. Would recommend to others." on by cubfan4lyf
Pros: Cordless - Saves having another charging cord in the vehicle
Size - A little larger than other radar detectors but still fits fine in center console
Window Mount - The mount is able to make it sit level regardless of the amount of window slantCons: Battery life - Not as good as hoped. Decent considering I normally leave the unit on and allow it to turn itself off.
Carrying Case - The carrying case that was provided with the unit is very sturdy, but also very bulkySummary: I enjoy the product as a whole. It has saved me in a number of situations. I had hoped the battery life would have been better, but I guess with just two AA batteries not much can be expected. The laser identification is LOUD and accurate.
I replaced a long out of date Escort detector and I am very happy I did. -
"Customer Service is sarcastic and rude." on by bubbleboy7
Pros: cordless, blue lights, good features.
Cons: false laser alarms, breaks easy, expensive, headphone plug breaks easy, speaker breaks easy.
Summary: Im still waiting a call from the regional manager about his smartellic employee. He says "do you want the address or not" after I gave him my CC number for repairs.
I drove right past a motorcycle cop with a gun, and he got the guy next to me. Meanwhile, not a peep from this pile of garbage.
Constant false laser alarms, got to turn it off.
