"Best for the Price - Bar NONE" on by n9avp
Pros: Great sound
Cons: local stations only w/o antenna
Summary: What a fine table radio. I've owned the Tivoli Mod-One and the PAL, but they aren't cheap! This 705 is. Sound-wise it's equal to Tivoli, but with the Tone control, it makes voice programming much better. I did need a external ($2) antenna for getting FM stations beyond 25 miles. AM- local only on all of these radios. Nice features: headphone jack and aux input (like MP3 player). Also nice is the internal power supply - no wall wart. You can't go wrong with it, especially at the sale prices.

My mom needed a really good table radio, and she is 87 years old. How could there be a more perfect design than this one? Some people prefer SIMPLE devices. She needed a radio that looked good, was simple to operate, had great sound, and was a basic AM/FM radio for her small table next to her living room chair. She recently began to really enjoy listening to NPR instead of watching the TV, and I wanted her to have a really good radio. I looked at the KLOSS/Tivoli designs, but they were not worth $150 in my opinion. This gem was only $59, delivered to my door. SOLD. I let her try my CCrane radio, and it is too complicated for mom to work easily. Plus, she does not need long range reception or an ext antenna, or an alarm clock on it. Also takes too long to tune thru the bands. . Thank you, Soundworks, for making a product for people looking for a simple, quality radio. You have made mom very happy.
