"Great Sound, but doesn't charge any of my iPhones"
3.5 starson by onealwrPros: Great sound out of this unit, runs on both AC and 8 D batteries so you can use it anywhere.
Cons: Straight out of the box will not charge my iPhones ( I tried 2 iPhone 3G and 2 iPhone 4s.) Does charge my iPod Photo (circa 2005). I'm returning the unit to Altec Lansing for a warrenty replacement, but I'm required to pay for return shipping.
Summary: I'll change my review if the replacement unit performs as advertised. I bought this specifically to use with the iPhone 4. The Apple Store sells this product and advertises that it is compatible with the iPhone 4, but my unit evidently is defective. It doesn't charge my iPhone 3Gs or iPhone 4s, but is able to control them using the on unit buttons and the remote. It also displays what is playing on the unit display. Overall a good product, but my unit is clearly defective.
Altec replaced my unit under the warranty, but this required me to pay for the shipping to return the unit. The replacement works great.
