It has to be heard to believe. Easily performs as well or better than the wave radio (a gimmick anyway). tuner works great, but I live in the middle of the ocean.. hard to judge.. Its either local or too far away.
As for mono/stereo. The radio (like most) is far to small to make stereophonics an issue. Its too small to separate the sound. The other tivoli stereos have the ability to attach a separate stereo speaker. If you like stereo so much, put on some headphones.
Simple, does what its supposed to, well packaged. What more could you want.

Summary: I bought the Tivoli Audio PAL to use as a portable speaker system for my iPod. It worked great for the first week or so. The sound is fantastic and it does do a great job bringing in distant radio stations. However, the radio started shutting itself off after about five minutes of play time--even when plugged in. The problem got worse and worse until it stopped working altogether. I called Tivoli Audio's customer service and they asked me to send the radio and power cord back for servicing. The service rep said that it was probably a bad battery and that they would replace it. After about six weeks the radio was returned...without the power cord that they told me to send. I called and they sent me another cord about a week later. Once again, I plugged my PAL in and it worked fine. But within two days the system stopped working again. This would be a great system if they ever figure out the batter/power supply issue.
