Pros Great reception & audio at fair price!
Cons Wish AM tuned in 1 KHz increments.
Summary I bought my SongBook for good audio & ipod use when on the road. Radio is of exceptional build quality, delivers very good speaker audio and aux. plug great for ipod audio book listening. This radio would be a great AM DXing portable if only it tuned in finer 1 KHz increments. But, this is a good buy for a quality rig. wagnerND
Pros Simple set up, easy to use, (although I have not used the alarm) clear sound. (I bought 2 a gloss finish for home & black rubber for the office.) White gloss finish cabinet easy to keep clean. Works from mains and rechargable batteries work well.
Cons Resetting a year later needs the book, the great rubberised look is now highly sticky where the coating seems to be breaking down, which makes it very hard to remove dust from cabinet (rubberised finish).
Pros My Song Book rubber coating is getting very sticky. Are there some other people out there having the same problem?
Cons The rubber coating is getting sticky!
Pros Excellent tuner, great portabiltiy, good sound from a small package. Headphone jack and stereo input.
Cons Not quite enough power for some outdoor uses.
Summary As a portable radio, this one is tops. Sound quality is really good, although the amp could use a little more power. Indoors, you can fill a room with sound. Outdoors is OK for one or two people but not for a group. Big plus is the compact size, and the stereo heaphone jack. You can also use the input to play from a portable CD or MP3. The tuner is top notch, and pulls in stations very well. Built in clock with alarm lets you carry one thing and use it for multiple uses.
Pros Sound quality, Clarity of FM capture, Variety of colors, User-friendliness
Cons The rubber-like finish may attract dust. But it can be cleaned easily.
Summary I love my SongBook! It is extremely simple to set-up and start-up. It is very functional, and the choice of vivid colors makes you want to collect them all!
Its ability to render clear FM music, without interference, even in the middle of the city is very impressive at this price point. Its mono output is crystal clear & pretty good considering the limited dynamic range and small speaker size.
Even better, it wakes you up in the morning with clear MUSIC, not some clicking sounds from the startup electronics. Frankly, I had not listened to the FM band on a simple radio with such pleasure for a very long time.
I really love this little machine, and have a lot of respect for Tivoli's no-nonsense design philosophy of "bringing simple to use, high-quality audio to the consumer at reasonable prices".
