"Great sound, reception, AUX, totally adorable"4.0 starson by 2blulu
Pros: Excellent reception. AUX cable turns radio into iPod, cassette and CD player.
Cons: Adaptor problems, gobbles batteries
Summary: I bought this little beauty because of its looks, 11 1/2 months ago while on a trip - $160. The adaptor caused problems immediately, defaulting to 87.5 randomly. Station set doesn't hold - again at random. I never know if I'll have to reset my stations when I turn on the radio. The customer service at Tivoli Audio is terrific and they replaced the first adaptor. Alas, the 87.5 default problem reoccurred so I am exchanging the Songbook for a replacement. Yikes! As I write, I realize this hardly sounds like a sterling endorsement, but I think the problems are unique to my particular unit.
So, why an '8' rating? When it works, which it usually does, it's the best portable I've ever had. I live in the shadow of a hill and my FM Jazz and NPR stations are sketchy even on my large stereos, but the Songbook pulls everything in. The customer service people think there's a glitch in the radio causing adaptor troubles. I agree. Would I buy another one? YES. Slips beautifully into my suitcase and provides so much excellent sound on the road. I love it.
