CNET editors' buying advice
We have not reviewed this product but here is CNET's buying advice on RAM (Random Access Memory). This content was chosen based on the features included with this model of ram (random access memory).
DDR RAM
DDR (Double Data Rate) RAM, sometimes called DDR1 now, was developed in the late 1990s as a new, faster type of RAM. It has now been superseded by DDR2 and DDR3 RAM, but some older systems will still need to use this type. Desktop machines that use DDR RAM use 184-pin DIMMs, while notebooks use 200-pin SO-DIMMs, that are physically similar to notebook DDR2 DIMMs. DDR memory comes in a variety of different speeds, with the following specifications:
| Standard name | Module name | Memory clock | I/O bus clock | Peak transfer rate |
| DDR-200 | PC-1600 | 100 | 100 | 1600 |
| DDR-266 | PC-2100 | 133 | 133 | 2100 |
| DDR-300 | PC-2400 | 150 | 150 | 2400 |
| DDR-333 | PC-2700 | 166 | 166 | 2700 |
| DDR-400 | PC-3200 | 200 | 200 | 3200 |
Technically, the first column of the table lists the name used to describe individual RAM chips, and the second column is the name used to describe a complete DIMM. However, the two types of terminology are often used in confusing ways, and it best to keep both terms in mind when looking for a particular type.

CNET product brief
Description: The Kingston 512 MB memory Module for Select IBM Thinkpad Notebooks is a 1 module, notebook memory kit.Compared to other notebook memory kits on the market, it is midpriced at around $45.
Pros: None noted, given available product data.
Cons: Has a 266 MHz clock speed.(While it is best to use the fastest memory supported by your system, be sure not to mix modules of different speeds if you already have memory installed.)
Suitability: A notebook memory Kit, suited for upgrading system RAM.Since you can't upgrade a notebook's CPU, memory upgrades such as these are the best way to upgrade performance.
Value: In general, this Kit's features are as expected for this price. Also, this module is made by Kingston, trusted for high-quality, tested RAM.
Suggestions: (1) You will need 1 open SO DIMM 200-pin slots to use this memory.(2) Be sure to check with the retailer for warranty information on this product.(3) For more information on upgrading your system's RAM, check out CNET's How to page.
