"I wish I purchased this remote three years ago."
Pros: Easy programability, Macros make switching between components a snap, Rf capability allows you to hide everything except the Plasma screen. Data base includes IR code for Bose Lifestyle systems.
Cons: Large size makes it uncomfortable to reach topmost buttons during one hand use.
Summary: The only thing I'm sorry about with this remote is that I waited so long to purchase it. When I set up my home theather system 3 years ago I chose a Bose Lifestyle 28 as my receiver. I soon found the "programmable" remote included with the Bose system could not control my Tivo (due to compatability) or my Pannasonic plasma screen (due to it's location away from the one ir blaster provided). After this bad experience with "programmable" remotes I was gun shy about investing $250+ on a remote I was not sure would be able to control the primiarily Rf controlled Bose in it's Ir configuration. I spent 3 years juggling remotes untill I had enough and decided to buy a unifying remote. I researched the availiable remotes at several online forums and found the HTM MX-800 a good fit for my needs and wallet. It was easy to program utilizing the free downloadable software and is now controlling all my components(even my automatic shades) flawlessly. It does not have a recharger, but,I have had this remote for 3 months and the range is still as good as when the batteries were fresh. The tactile feedback from the abudance and logically arranged hard buttons makes the battery hungry backlight almost uneccessary after just a few days of use. The only drawback I have found with the MX-800 is the way the remote flairs out at the top. It allows larger print for the soft keys but makes it difficult to reach the top buttons when using this remote one handed. This is especially bothersome for my wife as her hands are smaller than mine. Overall, I would recommend this remote to anyone. I wish I had purchased it years ago. If you have a system with more than 2 components, a unified programmable remote is the only way to go.
