"With this remote, you need no others." on
Pros: I had the previous model and now I have this one. I have to say I haven't used or even needed the remotes that came with my A/V gear in years. This remote can control literally anything. I set up a macro to switch my TV input, play a DVD and best of all
Cons: The size is a little big, but you get used to it. Programming is tricky and time consuming, but once it's done it's worth the time. (If you can't even set the clock on your VCR, don't bother trying to use this thing.) I would also like to see more cust

"Sony Commander useless after two years" on by paulnmicki
Pros: Works fine after programming
Cons: Buttons fail after a period of time i.e. volume and the screen is hard to read at times
Summary: Overall this remote is fine once the extensive programming phase is completed, but be sure to keep that user manual handy for things like resetting the clock etc. The volume buttons began to fail after about two years, to the point they no longer work. The LCD screen is a great idea except when you have kids that like to change channels with greasy/dirty fingers, then it's hard if not impossible to see. When the batteries start to die the LCD images are the first thing to die so to see what your doing you'll have to use the backlight which drains the batteries even more.

"Good Multi Functional remote" on by Danny8691
Pros: Macros work great
Cons: LOOSE Memory when Changing Batteries
Summary: I spent a whole evening configering this baby. It works with my X10 lighting system.
Macros work good.
Pros: 1.can config view screen and clear out unnecessary LCD "buttons" 2.macros work good 3. works with x10 lighting.
Problems 1:hard to see volume controls in dark 2.Loose memory when changing batteries (my rechargable ones lasted 6 mo.
I would not recommend because of memory loose when batteries needs to be changed. I spent hours programing it -
"worth the price, wish it had lasted longer" on by zenfire
Pros: Does everything I wanted it to do for 7 components
Cons: volume buttons died after 3 years
Summary: batteries last 2 months - using the high capacity nimh. Anything macro-wise I wanted to do, I could do - loved it. Just disappointed when the volume buttons went. Now we are looking for a new remote and won't be buying Sony. Having a killer remote and needing a 2nd remote to control volume is pathetic.
