Description: This Hitachi Microdrive Travel Kit is a 2GB, standard hard disk drive.Compared to other standard hard drives on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $65.Its burst transfer rate (which is how fast the drive moves data already in its cache into your computer) is 33 MBps.This is a 3600 rpm drive and comes with a 128 KB cache.
Pros: A power management system built into this drive enables it to slow or pause itself at different times so as to prolong battery life in a portable computer.
Cons: Has only a 2GB capacity, which is somewhat smaller than some similarly priced hard drives.For example, the Western Digital Caviar Green WD6400AACS, at around $70, has a 640GB capacity.Also, this hard drive has only a 128 KB buffer, which is smaller than some similarly priced hard drives.For example, the Seagate Compactflash Photo Storage Hard Drive, a 4GB hard drive at around $65, has a 2MB buffer.
Suitability: A standard hard drive, suited for general computing.
Value: In general, this hard drive's features are in line with its price.
