"Never Worked Well"on by LawUser
Pros Lights flash on it when it's plugged in.
Cons Way too complicated to set up.
Summary Whenever I wanted to feel completely frustrated and as if I have absolutely no technological skills at all, I pulled this device out of my office closet-of-lost-technology and try to make it work. The Linksys documentation is well-written and simple, but the setup is way too complicated. You first have to gather tons of information about your network, the access point, and then change network settings on one of your computers so that it can no longer see your network, but should be able to see the Expander. Once you've gathered all the info and changed your computer, you have to plug in the Expander to the power outlet and connect an Ethernet cable to it and the computer you just removed from your network. You should then be able to type in the factory pre-set IP address of the Expander to access its internal HTML setup pages. I actually got that to work once or twice and was able to set it up, and it sort of expanded my network, so long as it was repeating the signal of another Linksys wireless router. However, if the power went out, you lost everything and had to set everything up again. After the 10th time of this happening, I gave up and put the thing in my closet.
Recently, I pulled it out again because I hadn't been completely frustrated and irritated in a long time. The setup doesn't even get to the HTML screen of the device any more. After losing two hours of my life that I'll never get back, I'm not returning this to the closet. I'm putting this thing in the trash.
What a waste of money.
