Pros Makes a good paper weight
Cons Drops Connection, Poor Coverage
Summary i have purchased a lot of computer gear in my 20 years of computing and i would safely say that belkin is the worst product i have EVER brought. Frequently drops connection, Often a reboot will not make it reconnect and requires the power plug to be pulled and re powered. Coverage is pathetic, i receive a stronger signal from my neighbors dlink in the house next door than this router placed directly upstairs. Interface is appalling and confusing. a password has been set to keep intruders out of the setup page but the router frequently allows any one in without a prompt. Even the supplied DSL Filter died after 2 days of use.
Pros nice looking...
Cons terrible support and wrong cord
Summary I can't tell you how terrible an experiance I've had with Belkin!
I had trouble with their wireless G router F5D7230-4, it would boot me off for no reason, wouldn't let me on and so forth.
Finally after trying 3 routers they sent me, they decided to upgrade me for free to their wireless model F5D7231-4.
They said it would arrive in 3 days, 7 days later I call and they tell me that they tried to ship it from Indiana but they were out of stock, so they just didn't do anything until I called!
I ask them why they didn't realize it wasn't sent and they said it was a mix up!
They did upgrade shipping to UPS next day air and I recieved the router the next day, Friday.
When I opened the box, it had a european plug on it, I live in the USA!
I can understand a little mix up now and then but c'mon, this is ridiculous!
I call their support staff again, they are in India by the way, and they can't understand what the trouble is, finally I get it through to them and they tell me, call back Monday during customer service hours.
This is the WORST support/customer service I have EVER had, when you call, they are rude or don't understand your problem.
Stay away from Belkin at all costs, it is a terrible product and terrible service!
Pros It Looks Nicer than my old Linksys
Cons My Old Linksys worked better
Summary So, when I connect via the router I get 500BPS, when I bypass the router I get 3500BPS. Not gonna bother with tech support, gonna trash this thing, but I can't find receipt.
Pros Cheap (basically free), Works
Cons Wireless coverage
Summary For $10 it is nearly free and works, what more could you ask for?
Pros Switch capablities weren't horrible
Cons Unreliable and Slows Connection Speed
Summary Bought this to upgrade from my Linksys 802.11b WAP/Router, but had almost the same exact range . The speed was absolutely unreliable going from 54mps to 33 to 5 to dropping completely in a matter of seconds without even moving. The most disturbing thing was that it slowed down my internet connection even when I was directly plugged into it. My bandwidth to yahoo.com as well as my usenet servers when I was plugged into my old Linksys was about 400 kbps on average (same as when I'm directly plugged into my modem like it should be), but while plugged into the Belkin, it was barely hitting 200 kbps. And for some reason it looks like its only getting one DNS server from my ISP which uses 3, which any Linksys device would be able to handle. Also it is burning hot after its been on for 20 seconds, unlike the Linksys when you can barely tell its on let alone been on constantly for years. Get a Linksys.
