"IT ROCKS!!" on by oscar3d
Pros: - Reliable, doesn't get disconnected. -No strange errors from Outlook
Cons: -None that I can think of
Summary: I replaced my "cheap crap" Netgear MR814v2 with this baby.
It's not only faster than the one I had (which was 11mb), it's also a reliable thing.
I plugged my tower computer (wired) and notebook (wireless). Follow the steps for Easy Setup very carefully and I was surfing on the web in less than 5 minutes.
It does a great job balancing the net transactions and distributing the signal between the two computers.
It's firewall system doesn't stop me to get into VPN connection, and I didn't have to do any strange setup to make it work.
This product really does the job that's intended to.
It's doesn't drop the connection and I can trust the design of Belkin. I can go on the web and do my bills without being worried of a disconnection.
I'm very happy and satisfied. -
"Amazing Router" on by Jonathan.G.Chow
Pros: No Problems
Cons: None at all
Summary: Alright, we went through 2 wireless routers, a d-link and SMC which both dropped connections after a few minutes. *even the wired connections*, For the even cheaper then the SMC, we bought this belkin with a free notebook card. It's worked absolutely FLAWLESSLY. The setup takes a few minutes to do, and then it's set up.
I have never had a dropped connection. the notebook card picks up the signal anywhere in the house. and transfering is fast. *i had to transfer 8 gb over the wireless network and it took under 2 hours.

"The Worst Tech Support In 25 Years" on by TopcatTEC
Pros: A good paper weight
Cons: Won't allow settings below 1440 MTU/Drops etc
Summary: After calling multiple times, I was finally patched through to a tech who seemed unaware they even made a 54g. Then I was asked if I had followed the install directions, to which I replied I had, then I was told well then we can't help you. Multiple emails were never answered and I called back several times and asked about their router and AOL. They said they didn't know if it would work and I read to them one little paragraph on their support board. They then suggested I call AOL. I did call AOL and they said Belkin was not supported-but they gave me more support then Belkin. You know you are in bad shape when AOL gives more support for a product they don't support then the manufacturer.
I work for one of the world's largest corporations and when I talked to our tech people they said that Belkin has proven unreliable and they have stopped supporting it. Since I make recommendations on equipment you can bet it won't be Belkin. -
"Easy setup, fast and good signal." on by Eddie_Brown
Pros: Nice led display on front panel.
Cons: No power off button.
Summary: Had the router for about a year or so. It was a 5 minute setup, the first time. Since then I have learned WEP security, MAC filtering and ip addressing with subnets. The router can be configured many ways for home use. It has excellent features and security options. The help file is super and instructions are superb. Mine never has to be reset. The only time it is off, is when the power goes down. If the dsl is out, it has a light that tells you. It is intuitive with the lights, so you don't have to get down and read the labels. I can glance at the router and get immediate status, even from across the room. Highly recommend for beginner or old pro.

"This model's been updated since CNet's review" on by cdabs
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to set up, works great.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
Summary: First off, the router is much smaller than pictured and has only one antenna. Second, it's almost ridiculously inexpensive now. If you need an inexpensive router while you're waiting for the N technology we're waiting for to be perfected, you can't go wrong here. I had this set up in minutes and it has worked flawlessly so far.
