Pros Vertical orientation makes for small deskstop footprint.
Cons Set up appears easy but don't be fooled. Difficult, if not impossible, to get it to work properly and constantly needs rebooting. Poor documentation, even on the Belkin website. All these claimed features but no details on how to optimize use.
Summary This router was the most disappointing tech purchase I've made in 20 years. Sounded good but feel like false advertising. Shame on me for listening to the Staples salesman and not doing more research and reading more reviews. Do yourself a favor and avoid this product. Put me totally off Belkin products.
Pros Features are cool.
Cons The features don't work well - or don't work.
Summary I am a simple man with simple needs. Too bad the Belkin Play N600 doesn't simply work. Power save feature lets you shut off Wifi Tx at night (so you kids can't play xbox). Cool, though you can not set it thru midnight. Too bad the router can't tell time and doesn't turn the Tx back on reliably. This bug also locked up an eithernet port. You can also set a window of operation per MAC address. Also good for controlling your kids. That seems to work well. USB connetion is very slow and thus useless. I tried to copy video files from PC to my USB HD. WIndows estimated 12 minutes. To compare, direct USB connection showed 4min copy time!!
I didn't see any of these cool apps CNET talks about during installation. Guess I will have to look again. Our DLink was unreliable, so we bought this and it is not much better. Bummer.
Pros The only Pro about this is that they have decent customer support, however nothing they suggest is a permanent fix, they do talk you through everything.
Cons Every day, TWICE a day it craps out. Constantly needs to be reset, unplugged, and your computer must always be re-establishing a connection with it. Why? I don't know. I am excellent with computers and cannot figure this load of junk out for myself.
Summary Go buy a Linksys. Linksys has horrible customer support, but at least even I could manage to work with them. Do not purchase a Belkin wireless router please. Save your sanity, and your wallet.
Pros This was real easy to set up but you should have to reset every day
Cons I had one of my tec friends take me down to staples and spend 90 bucks on this piece of crap , it would work for a couple days then get real slow then keep booting me I thought it must be the modem , since I bought this bran new router change out
Summary Bottom line if you need a router for all your wireless needs and networking don't go cheap , I can't tell you how many times I wanted to take this thing out and run it over with my truck , my girl kept telling me to stop messing with it , then finally one of my friends told me to come to his store , I paid 70 bucks more for the real deal and a lesson well learned what a piece of crap
Pros Its so easy to set up a caveman could do it.... maybe
Cons Frequently drops internet connection. Some times it won't even think there is one. "Idiot proof" lights make it hard to figure out whats going wrong. Wireless range leaves something to be desired. SUPPORT INFORMATION AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY!!!
Summary If your wanting something to connect computers to each other and look nice at the same time this router is for you. If your wanting to access the internet...well this one isn't it. IT looked shiney out of the box and seemed to work just fine for the first day. But after that "Server not found" was the name of the game. When i went looking in their service manual, the only contact information i could find was for their website. ( which if you can't access the internet because of the router not working....) Got connected with this nice guy from India who, sadly, probably didn't know much about computers let alone networking. 2 days later the problem still persisted now I am back to using a D-link.
