"Will not work with SBC DSL speedstream 5100a"
Pros: ease of set up
Cons: useless CD documentation
Summary: Attention SBC DSL subscribers: This and many other routers will not work with SBC Yahoo DSL's speedstream 5100a. Their other DSL modem the 5100b needs to be bridged and re-configured for it to work. A very intimidating endeavor for the average user. Got mine from Newegg.com which was the only good thing about it. Customer service were very nice and promptly sent me a RMA number right away so I could return it. I was unable to evaluate the router since it will not work with my set up. SBC wanted me to buy their own router, the 2wire gateway which is a lot more expensive, a lot slower and a lot less secure. The moral of the story: Wireless set ups are difficult to do if you are an SBC DSL subscriber.

Here's what I had to do:
IP address of both the 5100 and DI624 were the same 192.168.0.1
So I figured if one of these could change things might work.
So I logged into the router by using the IP address 192.168.0.1 on the browser. User name was "admin" with no password. I now changed the router address to 192.168.1.1 and changed the subnet mask to be the same as the modem ie. 255.255.0.0. I also changed the password for my purposes.
Now I logged into the modem at 192.168.0.1 and clicked on the advanced tab and clicked on PPP location. This required the modem access code (located on the back of the modem on the yellow sticker). Then changed the current setting of "PPP on the modem" to Bridge mode(no ppp ). Click apply and save after warning message is displayed.
The only issue with this is that the next time you need to log into the modem, you have to temporarily set your computer's ip address to begin with 192.168.x.x and subnet mask to be 255.255.0.0.
Lo and behold everything was working now after a reboot of modem, router and laptop. I could now use the wireless card as usual.
Hope this helps.
