"A good looking piece of garbage after it has malfunctioned."
Pros: Easy to use,
Cons: One year warranty, it lasts about one year before it malfunctions, so hope that it malfunctions before the warranty is nullified.
Summary: I enjoyed the router, but after using two of these routers at about one year a piece, I deem them a scam. Do I sound harsh? Then I think you should read more opinions about the reliability in order to make your own judgement.
I had both of my routers sitting behind three surge protectors, and they both malfunctioned without any reason. I have a lot of computer equipment running, some over eight years old, and the only equipment that ever failed on me are the Linksys routers.
I called Linksys support and complained to them about the unreliability issue, and their comment was that "we[they] do receive great feedback from customers", which tells me they are not open to listening to those who do not have something nice to say, which backs up bad reviews I have seen about poor support.
I would love to see a recall on this product, because it is a sheer waste of consumers' money. I have .99 cent light bulbs that last longer than my $60.00 routers.
In case you are wondering why I give this such a poor rating, it is because the number one rule of thumb for me is reliability. If a product malfunctions and is no longer usable, then is it a product worth buying again? Never. It is a terrible product. I don't consider an unreliable product to be average. It is worth less than average.
Updated on Mar 31, 2009I'm saddened that you all have gone through the same issue with your Linksys router.
Since my original posting back in 2005, I purchased a Netgear FVS318 router. I believe it is the lowest version of the line of business class models. I have loved this router for 3 years running, and I highly recommend it to everyone! It's slightly more expensive than the personal router, which I paid just about over $100 for mine back in 2005, but I believe it's worth the investment and the trouble-free maintenance. I give it 5 STARS for the Netgear FVS318 Router.

LOL. yeah my Linksys has just quit on me. Just right now and yes it has been about a year now since i've owned it. What a SCAM. I'll stray away from anything Linksys as long as I live.

I have had the same experience with Linksys. I have now been through 3 that quit at about the one year mark.
