"Fails during continuous use. Old WRT54G works better."
1.0 starson by zecha1Pros: Looks sleek
Cons: -Did not provide a consistent stream
-Kept needing to restart modem to get access
-Technical support was not able to resolved the problem after 3+ hours
-purchased from Cisco's homestore and returning was a hassleSummary: I am upgrading from a Linksys WRT54G and purchased the EA4500 from the Cisco Homestore to handle the increasing wireless devices at home (Apple TV, 2 iPhones, iPad, 3 wireless IP cameras, wireless printer). The WRT54G worked great but I just wanted something faster. Very disappointed that the EA4500 was not able to deliver a consistent stream. I would get internet access for a few minutes, then it would stop and I would need to power down and restart to get internet access for a few minutes with low to no usage. I have Time Warner Cable with very high bandwidth so bandwidth is not the issue.
I spent 1.5 hours trying to figure it out myself. 3 hours on the phone with tech support going through a few levels of support and each of them walking me through the same steps of powering down, powering up, reconfiguring, upgrading the firmware to the cloud, powering up, powering down... After all that, they still could not figure out what the problem was and approved a return. I then spent 35 minutes with Customer Service trying to return the item and getting a hard time from them when Tech Support already approved the return. If you exchange the item, your warranty will be retro to the date of your original purchase and not start over so I elected to return.
Needless to say it was a very frustrating day, customer service and tech support were not good, did not resolve the issue and there were long wait times.
