Pros Basically plug-and-play for most setups. Flexible enough for complicated setups.
Cons Flaky, flaky, flaky. REALLY CRAPPY SUPPORT! Complicated setups are tough.
Summary Linksys has cornered the market for cheap, easy-to-install internet access boxes. And for most folks that's great. But in their haste to get products to market they've really put out some flaky products. And they're support is absolutely useless. Useless! Do not expect any help from them. It's sad.
Pros Still seems like the cheapest VPN router, capable of router-to-router VPNs. Capable of interoperating with Netscreen or Sonicwall, but not great instructions.
Cons Seems a little flaky, not quite robust. Still, considering price...
Pros Easy configuration. Haven't had the need to use all 70 tunnels but have used 3 simultaneously. Have installed over a dozen of these and all work great. Can do everything we need for a low price. Linksys has been active in updating the firmware when proble
Cons Had 1 hardware problem (1 out 12), a power supply, on a LAN where router was not on a UPS. LinkSys quickly shipped replacement. Others have not failed. Most have UPSs.
Pros price I have had great experiences with linksys routers in the past 6 years. Until now!!
Cons There is a voltage problem with the BEFVP41 that causes the router to lose its dynamic IP. Tech support had me change firmware, put a 50ft cable in between cale modem adn the router, and put a Hub (not switch) in between modem and router. Still loses ip a
Summary I bought the Linksys BEFN2PS4 Router with VoIP feature. 4 months later a port went out. I replaced with cross ship, and received a unit with old firmware, that I had to update myself. 3 months later the Voice over IP feature was defective and I had to mail the unit back again. That replacement unit went out 6 months later. The warranty is 1 year from the initial date of purchase, so after that no more replacements. Even if a replaced unit is a few days old. Customer pays for all returns. Tech support tries but is bombarded with calls. The Return dept does not answer calls. Tech support says that if I turn off the router when it is not in use, I would have less problems. Who has time for that.
