"Very Unstable -- Try DLink Instead" on
Summary: I had this unit for couple months now and over this period of time I had to constantly unplug and plug the unit back to make it work. It is very unstable. Finally I had enough of it and bought a DLink wireless rounter/print server instead, it works a lot better and cheapter. NEVER A LINKSYS CUSTOMER AGAIN.

"Has survived the test of time" on by Gabriel1331
Pros: Reliable and durable.
Cons: Has been known to drop connections once a week, bulky.
Summary: Even thought this router is a dinosaur I love it. Just because it has survived the test of time with limited headaches. I am glad I never threw it away when I bought more "modern" models because I always had to come back to it to keep my network running. Currently I am again searching for a more modern router (this is the fifth time) since this guy is wayyyyy too old. He must be like 90 in electronics years, but the poor guy has done his job with honors.

"owned one for 5 years" on by kershawr
Pros: has good range and works most of the time
Cons: when I first bought this in 2003, it was very stable and worked well. In recent years, it drops alot and must be turned off along with the DSL model and then turned back on. Router first and DSL modem last. Get the new firmware (2005?)
Summary: it's outdated as others have said. When it gets jittery, reboot about twice a day
It's quite possible that ALL THE DROPPED INTERNET connections are the result of the router and my home wireless phone using the same 2.4GHz channel. Many of those suffering from dropped intenet connections from ANY 2.4GHz router are likely to have the SAME PROBLEM. This will not go away with a new 2.4GHz router. 2.4GHz wireless house phones are common. Newer wirless house phones are 5.8GHz and should eliminate the dropped internet connections from 2.4GHz routers. In other words, it might be easier to buy new home wireless phones than new routers.

"NIB last night. drops connection frequently." on by stickm
Pros: looks nice
Cons: I have the "version 4" model. I was hoping that a firmware rev. might help, but I have the latest firmW:2005 ! Yuk.
Summary: Not recommended. Steer clear of this one.

"Do NOT purchase!" on by cgpixel
Pros: Does not seem to be missing any important features.
Cons: Unreliable! Requires reboot 2-5 times a day! Outdated.
Summary: I have used at least 5 different brands of (wired) routers before. This is by far the worst. Before and even after updating to the latest firmware, the router would drop the connection on all wired and wireless computers - a manual restart is required. Seeing the other reviews on this router, this seems to be a factory defect and I would not recommend this router to anyone.
My second worst choice was having to call Linksys's 'advanced' technical support which had me repeat the common sense steps I have already gone through - that call cost me $32 non-refundable dollars.
This is an old router and I don't know why someone would decide to obtain one. Just be aware.
