Pros Nice software, good medal case for air ventilation
Cons worked only three years, Charged to troubleshoot their issue
Summary FR114P, need to keep rebooting, is there diagnostic software?
I’ve been beating up Comcast for months now, and have replaced everything, but the router. I have to reset my modem anywhere from 5 to 10 times a day.
Being that the product is past warranty and discontinued, I could see charging for set up help, but to pay $70. Bucks just to find out I need to spend another $100 or more is ridicules. Look, I don’t mind buying another router if needed, but why do I have to pay for trouble shooting someone else’s mistake?
Come on guys, Netgear is suppose to be some of the best rotors out there. I’ve got music equipment that is 20 years old and it’s been through every rain storm imaginable and still running. I have my Netgear on an APC power strip with the computer and none of that other stuff has any issues.
If the rotor has gone bad in 4 years fine, things happen. But being that its solid state, and a pro line piece of equipment, can’t we find out if I need to purchases a new unit with out charging me for something I already bought?
Pros Easy set up an installation for networking a bunch of computers to the WWW
Cons The print server was a little tricky to set up but works well once set right. Does have all of the bells and whistles that the new routers have like manual port forwarding
Pros Normal LAN/WAN use is great. It's plug and play. Nothing needs to be setup. Print server works fine when there is only one PC.
Cons Unable to get print server to work properly with my HP Deskjet 5650, when using more than one PC to print. Which is what this router was made for. Support couldn't figure it out. Same thing after exchanging for new one. SMC Barricade works like a charm as
Pros Very easy to set up and get running. The firewall is very effective.
Cons Need to restart computer for webased changes to take place.
Pros It has almost anything you need from a prosumer firewall/router.
Cons It lacks Telnet access. Unfortunately Netgear has decided to disable/delete the Telnet server code from all current routers firmwares which is just not acceptable for a Pro/Office router like this. I hope Netgear revises its policy and either re-enables
