  • "Flawless and secure"
    on by deadfishbf

Pros easy to set up, flawless

Cons none that I've come across in 9 months of use

Summary I've owned this router for about 9 months now. I upgraded from a wireless G Linksys that was okay but this little beauty has enough range to keep me online all the way out to my pool deck (about 80 feet from the house). We have several wired and wireless devices running off it, many at the same time, with zero issues. Now I'm not much of a "tech" guy but I still like to have the best equipment available and I feel that this is the best and most secure for the money.

    Pros Fast, when it works

Cons must reset as much as 2 times a day

Summary I owned this just long enough to think about writing a good review. Then the connection issues started. I even payed the 40 nine smackers for tech support and it worked! For 3 weeks. I have found that CNet often has a high rating for something only to find the consumer rating much lower. Lots of stuff works out of the box, if you are going to keep your $100 gadget dig a little deeper.

  • "You get better odds in Vegas. This is a total crapshoot."
    on by forepaughs

Pros Works great at first, then degrades to the point where you are ready to barbecue it and the company who sells it.

    Cons see the summary

Summary I have always used Linksys in the past, but the current one is NetGear WNDR3400 v.1 and it will be the LAST Netgear I ever use.

Just like so many others, it started out sweet and easy, but after less than a year, it does not seem capable of staying connected adn it drops off 8-10 times an hour minimum. Its not a client issue as it happens with all clients. It is quite simply a case of incompetent engineering/manufacturing coupled with a total disregard for the consumer. NEVER AGAIN!

  • "Stay away from this router!"
    on by 911jerid

Pros It started off really fast
    Easy to set up
    Affordable

Cons After a few months I was unable to connect to it.
    It keeps dropping the signal
The 5 ghz never has worked.

Summary In conclusion it was a great router for the first few months. After that I had nothing but trouble with it. I will never buy another Netgear router again.

  • "Piece of junk after one month"
    on by pcdj64

Pros Works right out of the box, decent included software, pretty quick even without gigalan.

Cons Died after one month, strong signal, no connect on any laptop. tried everything humanly possible and nothing worked, netgear support is the worse on the planet.

Summary Router lasted one month, replaced with a linksys and everything works again. netgear will not issue an RMA because i can not troubleshoot the dead router by accessing it's setup page.how does one access a setup page when the computer can not connect even if the router is reset to factory?
