  • "Love this router"
    on by sHoCkAz

    Pros Everything

Cons None! that's my opinion though.

Summary This router pushes 32 MBS through everyday! and never stops. i would recomend this to anyone! i have never had a problem with this product! i bought it last year as well, nothings ever gone wrong! great range, fast reliable. *5 STARS*

  • "Solid router without issues"
    on by BBUser32

Pros Good wireless range, fast speed, sensational up time, plenty of configuration options, wireless on/off switch

Cons Unable to access own IP when connected to internal network

Summary I bought this router as a replacement to a D-link that bit the dust after a year. I was also considering an Apple Airport Extreme, but was concerned about strong power surges that could destroy the router (my office is hit with many of those due to construction nearby), and was ultimately turned away from it when I realized that I could buy four cheaper routers for the same price, meaning that, assuming cheap routers only last a year, the Airport Extreme would need to last at least 4 years.

After problems with D-link and Belkin, I decided to give Netgear a shot, and it hasn't disappointed so far. I've been using it for just over a year and the router has almost never been reset. Wireless can be shut off for added security. Given the price, I can replace it quite cheaply with a similar product from Netgear should it breakdown, even though it comes with a lifetime warranty (which still costs money to ship it).

Prior to this router, I went through 3 routers in 4 years. The Netgear router looks like it should last longer than the others. Would definitely buy Netgear again.

  • "Pretty basic router, with some good features"
    on by jscott418-21618367473133020464

Pros Setup is easy, decent range.

Cons Lacks decent connection WiFi speeds with some WiFi cards.

Summary Overall I decided to buy this router because I was tired of spending a lot on a router only to have it work well until just out of warranty. At least with this one that would be less of an issue. I have no big praises for this router but no real gripes either. Its just a decent 2.4 Ghz N router. I have the latest version which is V3. Has plenty of security options, decent logging options. WiFi speed is good on most computers except for a HP pavilion which has a Intel Draft N 1000BGN card which for some reason always has a lower connect rate then anything else? I set mine up through a web browser and did not use the CD setup. I find if you know what you are doing its faster to just use the web browser to program the router. Just make sure to use a wired connection and not WiFi. The router is rated at 300Mbps but the default max is 145Mbps? You can over ride but if your in a area of lots of 2.4ghz routers you might interfere with others at the 300Mbps setting. I personally did not see a need for it as my Internet connection max is 15Mbps and I do not exchange files or stream video so the local network speed is not critical. Having tried a duel band Apple Airport Extreme and having it fail at decent 5Ghz range I decided that this 2.4Ghz Netgear does plenty for my use. My advice is consider this router if your needs are basic and like good range. If you have higher speed requirements for local networking then you may want to consider alternatives.

  • "Router broken then customer service denies "warranty""
    on by nd_wagner

Pros it worked. nothing special but it worked well enough

Cons Broken. Hardware or software problem, but there is nothing we can do to fix it (tired all the steps suggested) and customer "support" wants $39 to diagnose and is "sure" that there is nothing wrong with the hardware.

Summary DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE "LIFE TIME WARRANTY" idea... they will not honor it. Netgear is horrible. Support and customer service is outsourced, rude, and unable to do anything unless you pay $39 for 30minutes if it is more than 90 days after purchase (even on LIFETIME WARRANTY products).

  • "Stops working after 105 days; no support after 90 days."
    on by Patch007

    Pros Worked for 104 days.

Cons Stopped working on day 105. No technical support after 90 days. Must pay additional fee for support. No clear, easy to find instructions on how to troubleshoot.
