"Pretty basic router, with some good features"
3.0 starsPros: Setup is easy, decent range.
Cons: Lacks decent connection WiFi speeds with some WiFi cards.
Summary: Overall I decided to buy this router because I was tired of spending a lot on a router only to have it work well until just out of warranty. At least with this one that would be less of an issue. I have no big praises for this router but no real gripes either. Its just a decent 2.4 Ghz N router. I have the latest version which is V3. Has plenty of security options, decent logging options. WiFi speed is good on most computers except for a HP pavilion which has a Intel Draft N 1000BGN card which for some reason always has a lower connect rate then anything else? I set mine up through a web browser and did not use the CD setup. I find if you know what you are doing its faster to just use the web browser to program the router. Just make sure to use a wired connection and not WiFi. The router is rated at 300Mbps but the default max is 145Mbps? You can over ride but if your in a area of lots of 2.4ghz routers you might interfere with others at the 300Mbps setting. I personally did not see a need for it as my Internet connection max is 15Mbps and I do not exchange files or stream video so the local network speed is not critical. Having tried a duel band Apple Airport Extreme and having it fail at decent 5Ghz range I decided that this 2.4Ghz Netgear does plenty for my use. My advice is consider this router if your needs are basic and like good range. If you have higher speed requirements for local networking then you may want to consider alternatives.
