Pros: IF and when the device is able to get a signal, connect, and remain connected, one may have a great time. If your fingers should get cold, place the device between your hands to quickly warm them. It may make a curious appearing paperweight, too.

Cons: Button's purpose at front of device is unclear, IF it functions. Unable to quickly locate / fix upon signal. Device ceases if battery is low or spent, though its connected to computer. Heats up too rapidly; performance lags/ceases. UNDEPENDABLE.

Summary: I've had the device for eight (8) days, and it is terrific during those rare moments when it works without interrption or complication. It never has worked as it was reportedly supposed to work. The device quickly heats and evidently overheats. As it heats, it dysfunctions for any number of possible reasons. An example is when the instruction on the device flashes to push the button to connect service, the status of the battery's charge always appears in the window instead.

I had a single-use Sprint product (Compass 597) for two previous years and enjoyed dependable service without a hitch. However, in regard to this device, if I had to deduce cause for the mess it is, I would venture that Sierra was hurried to meet another provider's product challenge, due to its comparatively very poor design, with problems so obvious, Sierra could have addressed them with more careful selection of material and more thougtful design. I cannot recall when I last encountered such an obviously flawed and poorly designed product.

Poor design and performance made it an annoyance and disappointment, and it will impose an inconvenience to return the device (this week coming), seek a refund, and to search for an alternate Internet connection. Sprint service may or may not be re-engaged, since I feel mislead about product performance and dependability. Sprint undermined its credibility and damaged what trust it duly earned during the term of its previous contract.
Re-engagement with Sprint heavily depends upon Rep's offer of regrets / apology, demeanor and demonstrated sense of responsibiity.
