Pros: It works on some sites.
Cons: Wouldn't let me sign in to the site that I needed to pay my bill or to several other sites with SSL protection. Tech support was sketchy in knowing and then following up on the problem.
Summary: I spent days trying resolve issues around this product. When calling for support I kept getting sent from company to company, each one blaming the other for the problem. Tech support at Verizon finally discovered that there were a lot of customers having trouble with SSL issues while using this product and that they and the manufacturer were working on a fix for it. I thought "Yea!" Said it would download automatically. They never told me when that was going to happen or if it had happened.
After a couple of weeks nothing had changed so I tried contacting them again. I couldn't get anyone on phone support to understand so I wrote a strongly worded message online discribing how upset I was with Verizon. That obviously got their attention and I got a call from someone who sent me a new one thinking that the software update hadn't downloaded to my device. Once again I thought "Yea!" The new one was the same and the customer support person who was supposed to make a follow up call did not call and give me instructions how to return everything. One of the final messages I got from the first call was that I had to return the old one within 5 days or I would be charged full price for it. It was getting on to 5 days with no response so I had to forge ahead with my own resources. Finally, I took it to a salesman at my local Verizon store who checked both devices and they both had the new software. Then he had me try to sign in to the site I was having trouble with and it didn't work there either. I finally got a different product. The new one is a Mifi 5510L which works fine. That salesman who kept saying he wasn't tech support did more for me in less than an hour than anyone else in the company had in two months. He is a rock star!
I am trying to save someone the time and negative experience that I had with this. Verizon support was not on top of this one. I lost about $1,000 in my own billable hours dealing with their problem. Needless to say, I am not happy with this product. I am fine with the solution, but it could have been dealt with much more efficiently and I wouldn't have been out $1,000 of my time.
