"Superb reception - I'm hooked on satellite radio now" on by jammb

Pros: Superb reception; Song memory function is cool; Small

Cons: No stock or sports ticker; car antenna is a bit of a pain to install

Summary: This is my first satellite radio. I bought it being fairly skeptical. I even turned down the Circuit City attempts to get me to utilize their professional installation. As soon as I activated it, it worked like a charm. The reception was even pretty good just keeping the antenna on the dashboard. I then put the antenna outside on the roof, and maneuvered it through the weatherstripping, under carpets, through the seats, to the front. Set up like this, the sound is unbelievable - no hiss, nice and clear. In fact, now that I have satellite radio, the hiss on AM and FM suddenly stand out to me, where they never did before. I think I will probably just leave the antenna like this - I don't think there is a big benefit to getting it professioanlly installed.

The receiver allows for up to 20 songs in memory, and up to 30 station presets. The display is nice, clear, and large. I do wish it had a stock and sports ticker, though.

Channel choices with Sirius are pretty cool. You'll hear music that you just can't hear on regular radio. In hindsight, I think I'm regretting not going with XM, though - they seem to have even more choices, more adult type of music choices, and of course major league baseball. I really wish Sirius had baseball.

I also bought the boombox that goes with the PNP3 unit, and that is very cool, as well.

"Mobile kit sucks" on by lguardia

Pros: good sound and wireless fm

    Cons: it never works

Summary: Do not get the mobile system. This may work at home, but the mobile antenna easily dislodges from the mobile antenna. I wasted 20 bucks on the XACT piece of crap, and thought if I bought a better name I wouldn't have the same problems. Wrong. You can get a signal, but as soon as you hit a peanut shell on the street, the wire jiggles and you loose the signal.

    "Solid Reciever" on by aparrish

Pros: layout and ease of use, cost

Cons: no problems as of yet

Summary: I got it for Free during a Dec sale at CompUSA ($50 with a $50 rebate). It was easy to install and use so far. The car kit cost me an extra $30 since they didn't have the joint package. No problems as of yet.

"Excellent product - I love my satellite" on by daveNY

Pros: built well, great display, easy setup and activation

Cons: Mounting in the car is a bit difficult

Summary: I bought my Audiovox PNP last week and I absolutely love it. I activated it with Sirius in 5 minutes and the sound quality is really great! The wirless FM transmitter is a snap to use and change stations. I installed it in my car in a basic way, until circuit city does a pro install, in 10 minutes. The hardest part is getting the antenna mounted outside which I accomplished by running the line thru my ski hatch in the back seat into the trunk then stuck the magnetic base of the antenna on the trunk of my bimmer. Fairly easy. My greatest concern is finding a good place to permanetly mount the unit on my dash...it is a bit large but I'm sure that circuit city will find a good location.

Channel selection and setting up of presets is intuitive. Great product. Feels very solid in your hand. The amber display is large and for all you BMW owners out there the amber color goes well with the backlit red of the BMW. It looks like it came with the car!

I would definitley recommend this receiver. Get satellite - It's fantastic.

"Well designed, very solid" on by barnicle8

Pros: Notifies you when your favorite songs are playing on any station

Cons: Slight pause when changing from one station to another but thats to be expected with every satellite

Summary: From my location the satellite reciever should be pointing east but I can point it anywhere and it sounds great. Didn't need to do a lot of work to set it up. Sirius has real radio stations with live DJs playing the music unlike other satellite radios. But without commercials. No playlists. If you want to hear the same 30 songs played over and over again like you do on fm radio than this isn't for you. Try the free trial at sirius.com
