JVC KT-SR2000 (Sirius satellite radio tuner)

having first purchased my unit at Best Buy in november, i noticed on day one that it was getting extremely hot. they exchanged it out for a new one right away. in may, my tuner kep saying "acquiring signal" but it never did. Best Buy would no longer help me since i didn't purchase the insurance plan. my battle with the terrible JVC customer service began. without going into too much detail, i wasted three hours on various calls being placed on hold and disconnected trying to get the right person at JVC. finally, i sent them back my unit and they sent me a new one and for my trouble a free home kit. unfortunately, i could not get any reception at my house and the unit they sent me has a short in it which makes it buzz constantly. nice thought but...so now, a month after i sent my unit back, it is unable to find a signal again. arrgh! more time on hold with JVC (though much better this time). plus, the overheating problem never fully went away. i would strongly caution anyone from buying this product with out the extended service plan from whichever retailer you choose.

As a mobile Mom, I love satellite radio, but this unit is for the birds!

- Hissing has occurred constantly
- The Lighted display crapped out this weekend, less than a year from purchase
- Alert feature is random. Many times I'll switch station and there's a song I should have been alerted to. Doesn't seem to work properly.

From me - skip the JVC!

I received this tuner in the car kit package for Christmas. I was very weary about purchasing this radio, because as you can see there are many negative reviews of the product. I got a great deal on the product ($50 after rebate) and really wanted to hear Howard Stern, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a tuner like the Sportster replay.

So I decided to take a chance on this, and have found that this is a solid product. The sound quality sounds tremendous and I didn't hear any sort of "buzz" as a few other people have reported.

In my home kit, I have found that the indoor antenna is not always great at picking up signal. Several times the tuner is "acquring signal" which can be annoying, until you find just the right spot to aim the antenna.

The car antenna is a different story. The reception is great unless your under a toll booth or bridge. The car kit is very easy to install as well
