"Best consumer negative scanner I could find"3.5 starson by jreidca
Pros: Good quality scans
Excellent negative scanning for price (you'll pay several thousand $ for anything better)
Easy to set-up & use (though finding calibration is non-intuitive)
Light-weight, space-saving design
Cons: Negative scanning speed - 7 minutes for maximum quality; 1:30 for 4x6 quality
Summary: I did a lot of searching on-line, and this had the best reviews and specs of any currently sold consumer negative scanner I could find. My experience with it has been very good, no problems. Currently, I've scanned close to one hundred negatives. Most of the complaints/negative reviews have to do with lines on the scans, which just means that the person hasn't figured out how to calibrate the scanner. Generally, anytime you move the scanner from one location to another, due to jostling, etc, you will have to re-calibrate for scanning negatives (a fraction of a millimetre makes a huge difference on a 35mm negative).
