"Great Scanner . . . but no support for Windows XP"
4.0 starson by SearsFan81Pros: Everything else.
Cons: No support for Windows XP.
Summary: I agree with every other bit the last writer wrote in his review of this product. I downgrade this model a bit due to the fact that there is no support for any member of the MS Windows family (supports only Mac OS).

I am still searching for a good scanner for use with Windows XP PRO SP2. It is only because of good reviews like this that I am not running back and forth returning unsuitable scanners (I found the XP cooment in other reviews)

Hi SearsFan81<br>U must be wrong about that, mine certainly is Mac and Ms compatible.They couldn't sell enough if only Mac compatible.<br>More important check whether u are happy with the Epson Dust Removal feature when scanning 35 mm B/W and Kodachrome film. We have noticed dreadful artefacts when viewed at 100% screen res.<br>Also you may suddenly experience 'escndv.exe' error which then stops all further operation of the 4990. The error is now acknowledged by Epson UK, but is blamed on MS.So far no cure has been proffered by Epson.<br><br>Before the escndv.exe error the scanner was great appart from the Epson Dust Removal(not ICE)feature.
