"Had one for years, wonderful scanner."4.5 starson by lugg
Pros: I scan people for portraits, odd-shaped things for museum exhibits, and over-sized graphics/books. With additional power cords you can "travel" with it like NO OTHER scanner will allow and get effects that NO Camera will produce!
Cons: None in my experience. Any color glitches can be corrected with photoshop as easily as saving scans as tif files. I've never had graininess problems, even printing scans at 16" x 20".
Summary: You can travel!!! Pick it up and scan something. Get artsy-fartsy. Have fun. Try getting as creative with a scanner that just sits on the table. Try scanning a 20 pound book of enormous dimensions. Being able to take the scanner to the "scanee" and see the entire process through its transparent window means a lot less headache with failures after the fact.
