  • "Works great as a 35mm slide scanner"

Pros: Downloaded software - large file. Worked immediately. Scans are good. General document scanning works satisfactory. Have not tried negative film.

Cons: Software loaded OK on first try, but took about two hours. large footprint. Takes about 5 minutes to scan 3 transparencies with avg. 2.3 mb files.

Summary: I like HP build quality. This scanner has a lot of features and the downloaded software is quite complete. It worked just fine out of the box after a two hour installation. Needed twain for slide scanning, but it does the job and a bit of touch up in photo software generates a decent photograph. My experience is following directions generally results in favorable results. If you want a decent office/home general purpose scanner it is worth a look.
