Pros Well Made and looks cool
Cons Awful Utterly Useless Software
Summary This thing is useless, I run an XP system and could not get this thing to not be buggy. The bundled software is useless and would not load as a custom install. There is way too much HP marketing of products in this software for, ink , printing, paper etc. They should concentrate on making an enjoyable USER EXPERIENCE instead I got a useless experience. I want my money and time back...
Pros Scanner probably ok, but not at default settings.
Cons Software problem
Summary Installation guide did not tell me that I had to uninstall other HP device (deskjet 5650) before installing the scanner. Result: I could not change settings because HP Solution Center would not recognize Scanner. Scanner with default settings is quite inadequate.
Pros Looks good.
4 buttons work quickly
Cons Big, takes lots of deskspace
Included program is terrible!!!!
Does not scan Black and white very well.
Summary Bottom line, do not use with the included program. It's horrible, and will cause no end of problems. With a 3rd party program like Vuescan ($40) its an entirely different scanner and can give great output. Be ready to wait though because at maximum resolution this thing is SLOW!!
For color, with vuescan its a very good scanner, for black and white, not so much. Overall, its not a bad scanner, but for the price, there are better out there, especially since one has to buy a 3rd party program to get all this scanner can offer.
Pros Great scanner for the money. Has worked with every thing I can throw at it.
Cons HP should fire all of it's software engineers. The included software uses flash, with the current version installed on your machine "hard coded" into it. What does that mean? That means anytime you have to update flash, you also need to re-install your
Summary Best scanner I've owned, by far.
Pros So far nothing has come out positive enough to be included in this scetion
Cons Slide and negative are never in focus
if you scan more than one item at a time you may have to restart at zero if anything go bad like power failure, sytem going in sleep mode.
Setup has to be reinitilize every time you power up or start a new job.
Summary What HP and CNET expert have try to convince us to beleive that this machine was a good scanner turned out to be the worst scanner I ever worked with, No matter how low the price could be, it does not worth it.
it does not matter which OS you are using, I have tried it on XP, Vista, and Win7 and it is always the same result
