Kodak i1210 Document Scanner

Summary: Love the scanner itself. However a less than perfect twain software driver cuts my rating in half. When everything is working, we love the simplicity, the quality of the scans, really the whole package. But when the bundled Kodak twain scanner driver (version 1.3) decides to start blowing up, scanning grinds to a halt. We may scan three batches or even thirty, but once the driver decides to quit working it takes a computer reboot to clear things up. Hopefully Kodak will address this issue and get a twain driver update released. If you are using software that can use the ISIS driver rather than twain, you can likely avoid this specific problem.

Since the scanner was recently released, I'm sure this is the price to pay for buying on the bleeding edge. I'll be sure to update this review once a new driver comes out that fixes the problem. Our office would buy two more of these scanners were it not for the software issue.

Certainly your computing environment could vary from ours and the scanner could work great for you. I would suggest you test this scanner in your own environment before making a big purchase decision though. (We run Windows XP SP2 on our computers).
