"Eventually Goes Belly-Up In Very Big Way"
Pros: Lots of good service
Cons: When it breaks, it breaks bad
Summary: I bought the unit new on June 21, 2005 for $519.95. On August 4, 2006, just past the 1-year warranty period, the scanner pulled the slide tray with four slides on it completely into the unit and refused to let go. Just sucked it right in. You can't even open the door. It is stuck in there. Now, if I ever want to see my slides again, I'm supposed to return the unit to be repaired at a cost of $181.00 plus shipping. I'm not even sure they would actually get my slides out and return them to me, or simply send me a replacement unit.
The scanner has been okay until now, though not spectacular. I feel that I have actually spent $500 on a toy when I thought I was buying a piece of professional equipment. I won't be purchasing another Konica Minolta product again.
