The equipment will last long enough to make it worth the money for scanning receipts and basic documents. I have owned mine for over two years for scanning receipts and work documents. I travel very frequently and only use the cloth case for protection and keep it in my backpack. It is very very solid. I've only cleaned and calibrated it once since I bought it. I prefer not to use the software as I find it easier to to manage my own files, however the software makes it easy to search business calls and files. Also, it will scan not only to picture formats but PDF as well, which I find extremely useful. Bottom line, It is absolutely awesome for travel, however for a home use scanner I would prefer to find something that will scan in color.

"Terrible customer service" on by bhattara
Pros: It really does organize your life
Cons: The service is amateur. So for some reason I had my product key terminated. I cannot get back in to my files. Now I have been emailing to get support. They just do not know how to handle business people
