"Worst purchase I've ever made"
Pros: Advertised to do professional quality scanning.
Cons: The scanner is very very slow when used with Digital ICE. The SF210 slide feeder is really junk. It won't feed more than 3 slides before misfeeding. I visit I hadn't purchased it over the internet. I'd have returned it sooner. I've spent countless hou

This is th second Nikon Coolscan I've owned. The unit is fast with many nice processing features such as Digital ICE, etc. Keep in mind that the amount of data being recorded can create HUGE files which are of value if you print 16x20 images. Otherwise drop the file size from 60 megs to 15 megs and you'll get faster scans and still get excellent images. Regarding the SF-210, the secret is setting the feedgate correctly. Assuming your slides are not bent and are relatively flat it usually works quite well.Pay attention to the instructions and you'll be very satisfied.

I have used it to scan 500 slides so far in various manners. Like he says, the scanner is slow but I find it useful since it does fabulous things for poor quality slides. ICE is phenomenal.
However, the SF-210 slide feeder has yet to work well regularly with more then 3 slides before a jam occurs. With the right slide thickness and if the stars and planets line up right, it will work flawlessly through 20+ slides. That has happened once for me. The software doesn't handshake well with the scanner - no controls to manually manipulate the feed action (to clear the jams for instance). Plan to single feed your slides and then you may get a bonus if your slides are the right thickness.
