    "Beware activation problems"

    by michael.kenward on May 14, 2005

Pros: Big improvement on previous version

Cons: Activation is a problem for some

Summary: This would be a great improvement on what went before - faster, better interface, good new features - were it not for the fact that it has a broken activation mechanism. (They should talk to Micros**t.) My version of Acrobat claims to discover that my "Computer?s configuration appears to have changed". (It hasn't.) And demands reactivation. Support is no help. (When you can reach it, which is hard in the UK.)

    Others have reported similar problems.

its very easy. just rename "Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe Systems\Product licenses\XXXX.dat" , then restart program, and re-active.

I wish I could be of help-I had the same frustrating problem. It's as if Adobe is begging users to seek competitors. After my experience, I will be happy to oblige. Before you considering Acrobat 9 Pro, consider my adventure: Every time I open a pdf after installing acrobat 9 pro., a message states my system has changed & Acrobat needs to be reactivated. Attempts to reactivate online result in a reply that the software is activated on more than one system, which it is not. I then activate by telephone, successfully, but the very next time I open a pdf, I get the same message that the system has changed. I have been stuck in this infinite loop for about a month. I have contacted adobe four times by telephone regarding this matter, to no avail. At one point, the adobe rep. researched a little further and told me I would receive an email within 48 hours with guidance on how to solve this problem. The email never came and the next telephone call to adobe was as useless as the rest.

Adobe Acrobat 7 Activation The Adobe activation system stinks for the second time now i cannot access adobe 7 and it wont let me activate and of course they only work 9 -5. Mon - Friday in the UK. So I have lost the whole weekends work. I bought Paint shop pro 5 & 9 Adobe 4 then 5 then 7 thats the last software i ever buy from this lousy company. They are legalised crooks taking money for something they dont deliver. I am going to post this along with all the other dissatisfied customers Adobe have. A Palmer
