Pros: Faster;more customizable;histograms in curves;improved bridge functions;new quick select
Cons: None really
Review:
CS3 is a significant improvement over CS2 and well-worth the extra money. Let's start with the improvements to Bridge:
1)Adobe Photo Downloader-transfer utility to move files from your camera to computer; it can change file names, convert to DNG, save copies to a backup drive
2)Filters has its own panel now so images can be sorted by aspect ratio, landscale/portrait,date created, ratings, etc.-includes the number of images by filter
3)Stack allows you to group a bunch of pictures under one image
4)Better and easier customizing of workspace with 3 buttons at bottom right to quickly toggle between them
Photoshop itself has improvements in:
1)Curves include histograms so easier to identify general areas you want to change
2)Smart filter command allows many filters to be used like a layer
3)Quick select makes selecting areas faster
4)Brightness/contrast adjustment is now useful instead of one to avoid
5)Automatic alignment of layers and photos
6)Improved RAW image processing

Pros: Considerable performance boost; cleaner interface.
Cons: It's really more like CS 2.5, which makes one hesitate at a $200 upgrade.
Review:
I started using Photoshop with the CS2 edition, and since that was so fantastic, I was hoping CS3 would blow me away. I do love CS3, but it's really more of an enhancement over CS2 than a whole new addition. The tools you're familiar with from CS2 are all there, except for ImageReady, which I was more than happy to be rid of. Adobe's philosophy seems to be "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," which is great, but I really would've like to see some more new features. What really makes Photoshop CS3 shine for me, though, is the much improved performance. CS2 would take about 10 seconds or so to load up, and CS3 takes less than half that on the same system. CS3 is much more responsive, and I really like the tweaked interface. What it boils down to is if you're ready to cough up around $200 for an upgrade, then it's definitely worth it.
