"Great stuff"
on by ewelchPros New panel scheme, and workspace selection in the toolbar now, single line tool pallet, Quick Selection tool, speed increase on Intel and G5 Macs, perspective cropping, etc. etc.
Cons Panels don't dock to side of second monitor. Minor quibble at best. Expensive.
Summary I don't know where the C|Net editors got the idea there were no real enhancements to the masking tools. I find them remarkably improved. The new Quick Selection Tool is brilliant, and the refine edges options are so much better than previous versions of Photoshop that I have to conclude they didn't find that feature at all. This is the best upgrade by far.
The depth of tools and integration with Bridge and Photoshop Lightroom make it an even more powerful tool to make photographs better that it's a no-brainer. The extended version has some great tools, but for the most part, won't be needed by most people.Updated
My rating of 8 was simply because of their question about ease of use. Let's face it, after 15 years of using Photoshop I still am learning all the time. This is a powerful program. My rating, if not for that fact would have been 9+
