Top notch Linux imager server

Pros: Easy to use, C-mount lens, Low power, No PC needed Feb 2004 Bought this camera 3 years ago used it a bunch but it was to big to go down in the glacier instrument we were building. Just hooked it up again from instructions on the web site. Easy to use

Cons: Static TCP-IP address (is this really a con?)

relatively inexpensive LAN camera - good lens!

Pros: good optics, pc-in-a-camera, wireless and POE (power over ethernet) compatible for remote installations, draws very little power i have 3 in the attic as part of a home-surveillance system. they can be monitored across the net.

Cons: some "bowing-effect" in lens (some 2100's not all), not integrated with wireless (like some competing products), slightly more expensive than others in it's category (although the 2100's price has dropped from over $400 in recent months to $200ish), canno

Visual Studio won't accept their ActiveX Control

Pros:

Cons:

Review: This is a great camera, but we really wanted to incorporate the video into an application via their ActiveX control. Unfortunately, CONTRARY TO THEIR EXPLICIT CLAIMS, Visual Studio will not recognize their ActiveX control, making it impossible to incorporate into a Windows App. When we called them for help, it was pretty obvious that the tech support person didn't know how to help us. All he could tell us was that they do not support their control. We were very surprised that they wouldn't even help us when it was obvious we were trying to do something they claim we should be able to do. Extremely poor service.

Best web camera out there.

Pros:

Cons:

Review: If you know something about IP addressing and networks this camera is very easy to use and works extremely well. The video is outstanding.

Really great. Not just a webcam.

Pros:

Cons:

Review: Perfect for my application. I have a cable modem with Dynamic IP - but I do have a home gateway and by using port forward I can now view my home from anywhere I want!

Dont buy this unless you are a network expert!

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I assume this camera could be good if you knew exactly how to configure it. The manual assumes you have a high level of expertise in setting up networks and offers no support for the consumer. I bought this because they said it was incredibly easy to set up. I then found out, I had to have a static IP Address, how many home users have one of those??? I called technical support and spoke with a guy called Jeremy. He was the worst technical support person I have EVER encountered. He is one of those dreaded (and stupid) computer support people who assume you should be an expert and cant be bothered with you if you are not. We actually argued over the phone as he tried to tell me I was an idiot because I did not understand how to configure an ftp upload! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU HAVE NETWORK EXPERTISE ? BAGS OF TIME AND LIKE BEING TOLD YOU ARE AN IDIOT BY TECHNICAL SUPPORT

I can't complain

Pros:

Cons:

Review: i needed something to monitor my business from home. I had been having a lot of break-ins and I think it was some kids but i wasn't sure i didn't want to spend a lot of money on a closed circuit system so I tried out an Axis webcam. Setup was easy adn I was soon monitoring my business. I actually haven't had any break-in's again, maybe this camera is not only a great value but lucky as well!!

Ease of use at it's best

Pros:

Cons:

Review: This camera is the best solution for a smaller budget and for an IT department that doesn't want to strain it's resources.

Finally a really good internet camera. Cool running linux!

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I really love the integrated webserver in this network camera. It has all the features they specify and I actually get it to run faster than the specified 10 frames/second. Installation was really simple - just wish my cable modem could handle more static IP:s.
