With Easy Media Creator 7.0, Roxio hasn't just strapped a few of its flagship applications together; it's built a new Swiss Army Knife suite for digital media and disc burning. Roxio Easy Media Creator expands upon Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, keeping the suite tightly integrated but making it a much broader set of media-editing tools for photos, video, data, and audio. Sonic have bulked up their editing and authoring offerings, and NTI's burning applications offer more depth, but none currently matches Easy Media Creator's expansive scope--not even Apple's iLife. If you're looking for a suite of software that can handle almost any kind of CD or DVD project--capturing and ripping, editing and authoring, saving and sharing, or burning and playing--look no further than Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0. Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0 comes on two CDs--one with all of the applications and another packed with audio and video clips, textures, and graphics. Conflicts between different disc-burning tools have been an ongoing problem with Windows systems, so Roxio recommends that you first uninstall other packet-writing or drive-emulation software on your system; the software will automatically detect previous versions of Easy CD Creator and offer to remove them, too. After we typed in our CD key, the installation chugged away for about 15 minutes--reasonable, considering the amount of software.

Roxio has brought a common look and feel to Easy Media Creator's various components. There are large buttons and pop-up tool tips for beginners, though advanced users can opt for more options and controls. Because of Easy Media Creator's sheer number of tools, Roxio has devised an excellent new user interface. Expanding on a more traditional launcher setup, in which you select which specific application to open, Easy Media Creator also features a user-friendly, task-oriented interface. Split into three tiers, the home page's top row offers a list of possible jobs, divided by category: Music, Data (CD), Photo, Video, and DVD. The middle row provides a more traditional list of the available applications and tools, and the bottom row displays a list of recent projects for quick access.

With a task-based interface that offers a laundry list of operations ranging from Edit Video to Create Greeting Card, Easy Media Creator takes the guesswork out of selecting applications.

While Easy Media Creator's components are highly integrated, they're still separate applications. When you select a task, the home menu immediately disappears, and you're left with a blank screen until an application loads; it's a bit disconcerting at first. The suite's Media Manager is great for previewing and organizing all of your files, but it's not always the most efficient way to execute tasks such as editing a group of photos or videos. Thankfully, each editing application still includes its own integrated browser or preview interface. Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0 brims with features new and old. Roxio has taken a major step in dividing up capture and management components for all types of media--photo, video, and audio. But it also makes it easy to bring all of the media types back together to create complete productions, such as slide shows and DVDs.

Creator Classic, Roxio's trusty app for burning data and audio CDs and MP3 discs, can now perform scheduled backups for periodic, automated data archiving. Roxio's Retrieve utility can be included on backup discs to extract files with optional encryption or multidisc spanning. A Drag-to-Disc feature lets you write discs directly from Windows Explorer, while the handy Disc And Device utility provides information on disc drives and their contents.

For audio work, Creator can now rip to the Ogg Vorbis format, and it uses the Gracenote CDDB2 service to identify audio CDs. Another utility lets you create disc labels, jewel case inserts, and booklets. Beyond simple disc-to-disc copying, the Disc Copier utility also lets you extract material from unprotected DVD-Video discs. You can preview video content, select an individual video title, and choose to copy just the primary audio format; however, you cannot pick and choose video titles and audio tracks. The Disc Copier is OK, but limited compared to some standalone tools such as InterVideo's DVD Copy.

In advanced mode, Easy Media Creator's Disc Copier offers some fairly full-bodied features.

The Capture tool can import photos from a camera or scanner, grab video from a camcorder or a TV tuner, or capture audio; the SmartScan feature lets you prescan a DV tape to preview scenes before capturing, saving time in the long run. You can also use Capture to extract video clips from a DVD disc or DVD folder on a hard disk, but with less control than you have using Disc Copier. During our testing, the DVD disc-scanning feature often failed to find clips.

PhotoSuite 7.0 provides a very friendly interface for common photo-editing tasks, as well as enhancement options such as painting, masking, and facial-flaw correction; it's a nice application for beginners but has less depth than other dedicated photo editors. For video editing, VideoWave 7.0 offers a host of options for users of various skill levels; you can use Cinemagic to automatically edit a video production, StoryBuilder to guide you through the process more manually, or the Production Editor interface to create a production using a storyboard or time-line view. We really like VideoWave's multiple modes, and it should keep new users happy for quite a while.

Easy Media Creator includes DVD Builder for authoring DVDs and a variety of VCD formats. It offers template-based DVD menu design, with control over designing menus, buttons, chapters, and tracks of multiple clips (with transitions). The Plug & Burn feature records directly from a DV camcorder to a DVD disc, and the Edit DVD disc feature can edit directly on a rewritable disc or add new titles to a recordable disc before it is finalized.

Easy Media Creator has scads of other features, including a basic sound editor, a simple media player that cannot display movies in full wide-screen, and Napster 2.0 for (legally) previewing and purchasing downloaded music.
Roxio offers good support for Easy Media Creator 7.0. Extensive built-in help comes by way of links to the PDF user guides and additional online resources. The company's Web site offers a searchable knowledge base and discussion groups with active responses from Roxio staff. Roxio provides complimentary e-mail technical support, but for only 90 days after a user's first contact--a little chintzy in our opinion.

Roxio's online support offers a solid knowledge base, very helpful discussion groups, and a decent FAQ.

Telephone support, available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, costs $35 per incident. Support requires a Technical Support Identification number, found on the installation CD (but different from the CD Key).

Avoid like the plague- rubbish - and impossible to deinstall

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: Doesn't work; very hard to delete from hard disk

Review: I got this pre installed on my Dell, running XP. I wanted to copy a CD so I activated it via the short cut on the Desktop and tried to use the copy function. It copied my cd into a temporary area (so it said) but without telling me the name or location of this. Then it prompted me for a blank disk which I inserted and asked me to click Copy which I did. I at once got an error message telling me the image to be copied was not at the location specified and was offered a Browse option to locate it. Only I had no idea where it had stored the image as this was not revealed at the initial Copy stage. So I assumed the version of Roxio I had preinstalled was corrupt in some way and reinstalled it using the source disk provided by Dell with my PC. What a mistake.... This only made it worse as it it grabbed all my CD acess routines - everytime I tried to open a CD it started up and prevented me listening to any CD except via Roxio. Worse still, the original copy problem was still there and even worse still it turned out not to have a proper deinstall routine and I had to edit the Registry to get rid of it. Avoid like the plague.

Utterly sucks!

Pros: If it could do all the things it claims, it would be great.

Cons: It does absolutely NONE of the things it claims.

Review: My review is for EMC 9.0, but it seems that that program was so bad that it was pulled from the site.

I have NEVER in my life used such a HORRIBLE program. It is literally the worst package I ever came across. I think the list of features that did work would be shorter than the list that didn't.

First, I should tell you that I (stupidly) bought the program and then tried installing it first on an XP machine and then, thinking that the XP machine was too under powered to run it (though it satisfied all the listed system requirements) tried moving it to my new vista. Every time I tried a new program feature, I would get a different error. I posted several problems to their tech support and kept finding that they'd close my support requests without ever contacting me! In fact, a few of them they closed without even answering them!

All in all, I clean reinstalled the program 7 times, following their directions and installing their patches every time and to this day it still doesn't work correctly. Their answer to my frustration after a year (A YEAR!!!!) of tech support calls was for me to buy the upgrade to their next version. Well, I suppose I did look pretty stupid since I kept trying to get their program to work.

Do NOT buy this. Do not buy ANY of this company's software and if it's on your computer, take it off and buy something that will work. Roxio seriously SUCKS!

Supremely Frustrating

Pros: Fits in my garbage can

Cons: Requires infinite patience not to scream obscenites while using

Review: This amazing piece of software manages to make an intricate, time consuming hell out of every aspect of burning cd's or dvds. Buggy in the extreme and excruiatingly painful to use makes the task of burning home movies to dvd an excercise in agony. Anything from the create a cell phone ringtone to importing video is fraught with peril. I hate this product with an awe inspiring passion. Run don't walk away.

Shame On Roxio

Pros: Nothing worth considering

Cons: Bad Tech Support, More Features to Buy

Review: I do not own THIS particular program, but based on the some of the products I have purchased quite recently, I would not purchase another product from Roxio. If you have any tech support issues, you are really on your own. My most recent experience was with Video Wave 8, which was suppose to be an upgrade with a previous product. The reason I decided to purchase the upgrade was that I had hope it would fix some quirks in the program I currently owned. I was in for a nasty surprise. Upon set up, the program didn’t work correctly. Files created in the previous edition wouldn’t open correctly in the new edition and frequently the entire program would crash. Email requests took days for a response and the info wasn’t helpful. I was never able to get the program to run correctly and I finally gave up, uninstalled and re-installed the previous version. But there’s no way I could find to request a refund for a product I’ve ordered on line directly from Roxio.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that their products advertise a variety of features, but frequently you have to BUY add-ons to take full advantage. Lastly, there seems to be very little integration between products and sometimes you find you have several completely different programs to complete the same task. It’s pretty obvious their developers don’t talk to each other.

If you decided to upgrade one of their products, be sure you have the ability to reinstall the previous version.

Not a future Purchase

Pros: Worked good at first but after a year the program went down the tubes.

Cons: Not much help from Roxio after the purchase.

Review: Buy some program the works thru the long haul. You are going to get no help from the tech support.DVD Builder...Program Crash/Hang Additional comments: Dvd Builder worked well for a three years and now it no longer works. Why would a program installed on my computer all of sudden stop working after 3 years. I'm getting that old DRWATSON Post Morten Debugger progam doesn't open and the other problem when this error message that just locks the computer up. I see thousands of pages on your web site with suckers who bought your software trying to program their way thru the maze like a bunch of rats on a sinking ship. They all have the problem with DVD Builder. If I were you as a software developer work out a fix and send me a new disc that works.Very tired of the problem because I used to use this program for my slideshows. Why do wait for so many people to tell you have big problems to solve with your software. Send me a refund!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fluff and sloppy

Pros: None and I did not buy it

Cons: 1,000,000,000,000,000....

Review: What a joke. Came with my Mad Dog (good burner)but without good software to support it makes it almost useless. Backup by sonic is buggy. You can't delete files (on a RW mind you) if created with the DVD/CD project, only if the files were burned using the drag and drop.
So, what is the point of a RW. You need to re-burn the entire disk to get rid of a file!!!
DUM. Useless
The bundled software only allows a typical install. You can't do a custom and therefore must install all of the other low quality, very low quality, "features" like , DVD burner (to build a low, loooooow quality slide show...images/jpegs look like 100 year old photos) photo editing. Nero sucks too.
NO, ZERO tech support. The web support was and is a joke. The product is so bad which is why they don't have support (not enough people in India to suuport it!).

PAINFULLY Slow Video Editing

Pros: Creator Classic

Cons: Video editing is slow.

Review: My primary purpose in purchasing this application (7.5) was to convert my home videos to DVDs. The video editing is SOOO slow that it is unusable (click and wait for 30 seconds or more for it to catch up). I have an AMD Dual Core 4200 with 4gb RAM and 250gb SATA. WinDVD Creator is lightning fast in comparison! In addition, about a third of my DVDs were "coasters." Same media works fine (i.e., not ONE coaster) with WinDVD Creator. I'd love to get my $99 back!

Can't BELIEVE Roxio EMC is a cnet editor's choice

Pros: The software offers a wide variety of multi-media options -- easy to learn. Authoring tools for DVD are very intuitive and easy to learn, however, the storyboard editing feature is a bit clunky.

Cons: Unreliable burning -- seldom works without MAJOR problems. Horrible tech support.

Review: Roxio EMC is one of the most unstable pieces of software I've ever used. I have spent hours on a dvd builder production only to find I'm unable to burn the project -- no matter what I try. I recently tried to uninstall the program so I could do a clean install and had so many problems (Code 39, missing certificate file, runtime error, and several others) I thought I was going to have to reformat my drive to get it off my machine. After several system restores and an adjustment to my registry, I tried using "My Uninstall" -- it didn't work initially, but after I used it the software allowed me to uninstall from the installation CD. I reinstalled the software and noticed several features (transitions, special effects) have limited availability. And I'm still not able to rip an image file. I long ago gave up trying to burn directly to dvd because I ruined to many dvds.

The tech support site is so bad I couldn't begin to describe it. I did find on the discussion board that many users were have the exact same problems -- but unfortunately, there were no solutions posted. Misery may love company, but personally, I love solutions.

I haven't given up trying to get my latest production to burn an image file because I have too much time invested in creating it. However, I'm researching a new software purchase. I always look to cnet for reviews when I'm in the market -- but after the cnet review of Roxio EMC, I'm definitely checking other sources.

Cons: makes excellent dvd coasters with the dvd builder

Review: is it possible to rate this program a zero, too bad. if this were simply a cd burning program, it would rate at least an eight, but since this promises to make dvds, subtract the eight. it gave me more error messages than i get in the inbox of my email account

Slow, Buggy, and Without Support

Pros: Great Range of Features

Cons: They Don't Work Well

Review: The creation of a data back-up DVD works, but the video editing and video DVD creation is frustrating and my latest attempt is still unsuccessful. (I came to CNET this morning to search for newer/better software... or at least reassurance that the new V8 works better.) The Videowave module hangs on my PC after a few scene edits. So, I manually save after each change and use the Task Manager to kill the program. And, good luck in finding support from Roxio.

Terrible piece of software, find something else

Pros: You can eventually compile a music CD

Cons: Everything else.

Review: Why do Cnet editors give this software an 8 when users average rating is 5.4? Economic insentives?
1. First, I can't log on to their site. All attempts over a week are rejected and the site doesn't say why. (It's not my security settings.)
2. 72 hours since sending a question via email with no answer.
2. Help files anemic
3. You can't print a track list unless you create a label and that doesn't work either.
4. In Label Creator, I expanded the object holding track names, edited a few and they disappear from the label when I returned to the main screen.
5. The program covers Windows taskbar so it has to minimized to get to another open app.

It took me so long to compile 3 CDs of music that was stored on my computer, that I can't even remember half the issues I encountered.

What a piece of trash. Waste of money & time - BEWARE!

Pros: I can throw it away!

Cons: "Cons" is too polite for what this deserves.

Review: If I could rate this a negative number I would. Make sure and back up your configuration and drivers before installing this piece of trash. It has destroyed the drivers on both of my computers (laptop and home). Neither computer will create a CD. It doesn't convert music types (and there is downloadable shareware that does this). Lots of fancy screens, lots of fancy words in their product description. Roxio has joined the ranks of so many other PC software creators (marketing, marketing, marketing). DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE.

This program really does not work; and there is nothing more frustrating than spending money on a program that is supposed to work on your computer and does not. Also, Roxio "Support" is virtually nonexistant.

I rarely write reviews, but I've had such a bad experience with this program that I can't help myself. I will never buy anything from Roxio ever again. Please, do yourself a favor and do the same. This almost forced me to literlly throw my hard drives in the garbage. Theoretically, you should be able to call a tech support line to obtain help with this kind of problem, however thank god for speaker phone as I was on hold forever. I still have problems with drives disappearing. Should have read reviews and stayed away from this "crap" software.

This should not be classified as "software".

Pros: Big pictures on retail box showing you what you SHOULD be able to do.

Cons: Once you open the box and install the software, it is far from operable.

Review: This software simply does NOT work. Support is non-existent. There is nothing user-friendly about this product. They have made an extremely poor attempt to mimic a similar, more efficent product, but have obviously failed at even that.

The software is rediculously slow. The interface is non user-friendly. The packaging seems to be created for visually impaired individuals, they throw large pictures of cameras and CDs on the box and assume that that makes a product function well.

This is the worst investment ive ever made.

Software is mostly good

Pros: Relatively good complete suite of software

Cons: The company is out to get every penny they can

Review: While I have been relatively happy with this product (read the Cnet review about the software), the company seems to bent on milking their customers for every penny they can get. They released ver 7.5 and four months later released ver 8, yet they did not give a price break for those users who had forked over money for ver 7.5. For registered users of their software, they will give you a MAIL-IN rebate. This rebate is also available to users of other products. It seems to me that not only are they trying to get every penny out of you, but there is NO VALUE to being a registered user of their software either.

Documentation Stinks

Pros: You better be a pro

Cons: Documentation, Content install

Review: I wrote this to Roxio's user survey: Is your entire product line and support system designed by the pointy haired guy in Dilbert? Your manuals lack all but the most general instructions as how to do things. Your email connection is very difficult to find. One must go to the control panel to install the content CD. Was this written for Windows NT or Dos? You patched this crap a*s program together from some parts. Your chat guy just repeats my questions back to me. Your Questions? I have to create a friggin password to create a back up file. It rejects all my password creations, yet won't tell me why. Too shot, too long. I'll have to grok it because the entire help system doesn't address this issue. What is this some kind of corporate server Im on. Oh! Its my home pc! Fall on your swords, cash in your stock options, your dog sh*t company is heading for the tube. Hang on. Whoosh! Im carbon copying ZDnet, Cnet, Consumer Reports and F*king Ralph Nader.

All Roxio products stink, and this is no exception.

Pros: Sometimes makes good copies of CDs

Cons: Buggy software, awful tech support, expensive.

Review: I have used the Easy CD creator for years, through various incarnations. Since Roxio bought the company, the technical support is awful. Even though I had paid $99 for the Easy CD Creator software, had the receipt and registered it, I could not download upgrades, because I was told I "was not a registered user". E-mails and phone calls to tech support and customer service went unanswered. Also, their software was terribly buggy, and I had to burn many of my CDs a second time, even though I had taken precautions such as not having open programs when ripping and burning, disabling software that automatically starts up, etc. All in all, I will not buy any more Roxio products

Worst piece of software ever made

Pros: None at all, nothing, nada

Cons: More bugs than I've ever seen, worthless tech support

Review: This is a nightmare piece of software. I have two brand new Dell XPS desktops, both outfitted for video editing and 3D (10K rpm RAID 0 drives, 4 gb RAM, etc.)

Roxio 7 wouldn't recognize my CD/DVD drives, after hours on tech support, they couldn't help me, offered to escalate, no one ever called back. I found a solution myself on the Internet, but you have to go through this insane updater process every time you want to so much as burn a CD. If you reboot your computer, have to run the updater and reboot again.

Worthless

Slow and buggy - With no support

Pros: It's easy to use

Cons: Slow when it works at all - NO customer support

Review: If you want support, I would suggest going to the various user message boards where folks can tell you how to get around all the problems this software has. If all you want to do is burn music CD's then this software will work most of the time and fast enough (if you have a 3.0+ ghz processor) - If you want to do DVD authoring (video, slideshow, etc...), look elsewhere.

Pros: A lot of utilities in one suite

Cons: Disappointing performance

Review: I upgraded to 7.5 after many email offers from Roxio to upgrade my earlier version. Unfortunately with the newer version I am unable to capture mpg videos on my hard disk so that I can not create dvds. I have had to use Ulead. glitchy with little or no tech support

Pros: some apps work as advertised; didn't cost more than the $73 I wasted

Cons: full of glitches; uninstall and reinstall clumsy; tech support virtually non-existent unless you throw even more money at them

Review: I had CD and DVD Creator 6 and was reasonably pleased using it for simple tasks though it choked on DVD projects even with a gig of memory. I purchased EMC7.5 for my new PC and it has trouble doing even simple data CDs. It keeps rejecting blank CDs as not suitable regardless of quality or how slow I set the write speed; CDs that other, cheaper programs have had no problem with. The myDVD slideshow won't work at all on my installation and the cumbersome process to submit an email support request resulted in a wrong answer where it is obvious he didn't read the question, possibly to force users to use their pay as you go support? The discussion forum on their web site has a lot of similar problems noted with typical "solutions" to be use of the VideoWave app instead, which ignores the fact you are not getting the functionality you paid for. I was able to create a DVD slideshow using the VideoWave app and it was very easy to construct including background music. It also burned the DVD fairly quickly (on a 3.73 GHz dual-core with 4GB of memory). The only downside was the built-in non-adjustable compression using this app resulted in only a fair video quality. Overall I am extremely disappointed in this version and seriously doubt that I will ever purchase another Roxio product.

Did not work, tech support did not care

Pros: Supposedly does everything

Cons: Does not do most things

Review: I experienced multiple problems with EMC 7.5. The most annoying was that I could not rip anything from my CDs - it produced empty MP3 files. You have to pay to talk to their tech support, so I did it through e-mail. They responded after a week with a cut and paste of a worthless KB article that had nothing to do with my problem. I replied asking that they deal with my problem or give me a refund, and they replied with instructions on how to get a refund. They made no effort to solve my problem and did not seem to care.

Other problems I had included the video CDs did not work, their CD burner program would not recognize my very popular HP burner, and the program's start page would not load at all and did not give an error message. Plus, the install is very intrusive, and it did not uninstall properly. It required quite a bit of manual registry editing to get the program uninstalled.

Does a lot; but movie menus isn't one of them...

Pros: video editing is nice

Cons: DVD menu support is very sketchy...

Review: Want to take a long video clip and create a scene menu to quickly jump to different parts of the video? Would you like to have control of how that menu is structured?

If so, don't use Roxio. Take a minute to check out the user forums at www.roxio.com on this subject to hear what a real nightmare it is...

Plug and Burn not that great

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: Just came out with ver 7.5, just after buying ver 7!

Review: I bought this over the competitor because of Plug and Burn, but P&B doesn't allow you to change the only background picture, music or title supplied. Bummer. A LOT of room for improvement in this area.

Ver 7.5 is an upgrade, not an update, so users of ver 7 can't get it for free. They sell it like a regular product. I bought mine a little too early. For the same price I could have gotten the extra features of 7.5.

I didn't feel this product was that intuitive for making DVDs.

Eighth Grade Implementation, Very Slow, No Spt

Pros: Nice Packaging and great concept

Cons: Can't handle DVD building. Changing between screens is like working on a 286 processor.

Review: This would be a nice package if all you wanted to do is copy CDs. I doubled my RAM to 1GB and it did not speed up anything this program does, but much worse--It takes forever to burn a DVD and then tells you that "an error" of some type prevents completion of the project. AND, your DVD--even a RW disc--is not erasable. What a waste of time and money. Tech support is slower than the program. Very disappointed with Roxio's program. But the box is very pretty.

Swiss-Army Knive of Burning Suites

Pros: What doesn't it do?

Cons: Requires latest burner firmware

Review: Roxio now uses technology where the software requires the burner to identify the media inserted. This causes many problems if the drive needs new firmware. For technical persons like myself, this is a no brainer, but can cause frustration with beginners.

Other than that, this is a great suite of products and after the merger with Sonic, they included a few apps from them in version 7.5. Although technical support can be slow (what company's isn't these days?), there is an excellant user to user forum where anyone can ask for help.

Okay Software, Annoying Habits

Pros: Okay for writing things to various media types

Cons: Very poor installation options, bad tech support

Review: I've owned this software for some time, and upgraded to 7.5 downloadable. When I installed it, I suddenly noticed a bunch of really ugly fonts scattered on my system. Well, I have thousands of fonts, but I use a font management system to keep my list of available fonts down to the bare minimum, and then set up "groups" I use when I use a specific application.

So, I went through, figured out which ones Roxio installed, and killed them. I then opened Word, and the Roxio installed popped up, and reinstalled all the fonts! I killed them again, this time using various registry tools to clean them out of the registry, and then launched CuteFTP Pro. Up pops the roxio installer, and reinstalls them!

This is IDIOCY!!!!! If every piece of software on my system did this, I would have an unmanagable font list. MAybe Roxio needs to get someone with some brains working on their software, since they can't seem to figure out what PERSONAL computer means--it means I can customize my environment, not save their tech support money by wasting my time scrolling through their UGLY font choices each time I want to change from Helvetica to Garamond in Word!

They need to fix this. In the meantime, I'm looking for a good burning software that will respect my computer settings.

It never worked

Pros: I can't think of any

Cons: How do I count the ways.

Review: I bought Easy Media Creator 7 about a month ago and it never worked, and worse, it overwrote my CD drivers and now they don't work. Roxio (the maker) offers "pay for service" technical support or e-mail support, but my e-mails have gone unanswered. And now, I find they have version 7.5 which I can buy for the full retail price, that is the same price I paid for 7 a month ago!

Not Bad Once You Read the Instructions

Pros: Relative easy to burn DVDs.

Cons: Can't seem to edit previous videos unless you start from beginning.

Review: I guess the more I work with the software, the more I see what the programers were trying to do. It's somewhat not intuitive how to operate this software, but then again, like riding a bike, you just get better as you use it.

The biggest problem that I see is that it seems kind of hard to create and edit your own DVDs once you make the first one.

Registered for cnet just to say how awful this is

Pros: Works all right with CDs.

Cons: Written up below.

Review: The Basic edition of this software came with my DVD burner. I installed it over version 5. It turned out to be a downgrade. Suddenly, I was presented with a fluffy interface that seemed to either obscure or take away what were easily accessible features in version 5.

It gets worse: Attempting to burn some video onto a DVD, it would allow any files BUT the files I wanted to burn, crashing instantly without so much as a message should I try to add them to the project. Absolutely terrible. Software should NEVER anger the user like this.
