Summary I got this pda as an upgrade for my 5450, and i honestly want the 5450 back. I got this device, hooked it up to charge, got it to charge and used it for about 1 day, before the screen turned completely out (lines and some whiteness) and then the status lights at the top kept flashing. I believe this unit to be defective, and have decided to go back to my 5450. I now regret leaving it in the first place. It's not a bad device (5450) but i must say, that the 5550 is not recommended.
Pros Finger print security, wifi, bluetooth, etc.
Cons slow at times, infrared doesn;t work sometimes
Summary I love this product. I use it everywhere. However sometimes it does freeze and the infrared doesn't work sometimes. But overall, I love this handheld.
Pros Clear sharp screen, fast processor, expansion slot, bluetooth and wireless, fingerprint security
Cons Internet explorer can't be viewed "Landscape"
Summary With a faster processor, and clearer screen, switching from my Toshiba was a definite trade up. Because of the faster speed, I am able to use my Palm apps, with the help of StyleTap.
I have yet to use, but like the option of 'finger print security' with this unit. My personal opinion is that this particular IPAQ model is more for the professional/business man than the average user. There is what appears to be a SIMM chip slot under the battery, but there is a VOID IF REMOVED sticker over the slot.
My unit came with the MOBePay Outpost credit card scanner, which makes for great banking. All you need is the MOBePay software and normal internet banking.
There doesn't seem to be an upgrade to WM5 for this IPAQ (yet, I hope) which is why you can use Internet Explorer in landscape which would make for easier surfing.
Pros SD card support, performance, sound quality, screen.
Cons Battery life.
Summary My dad got this PDA as a present from his work and he gave it to me since he has no clue in high-tech gadgets.
I bought a 2GB SD card and ever since this PDA works as an audio and video player.
Great software available for this on the net, nice screen resolution and great performance.
Pros Biometric security, screen size, and Portability.
Cons The price is high, but you pay for what you get.
