USB reader, SD card reader! loud clear sound, subwoofer output works great
FM reception at times is a bit touchy, mp3 read takes FOREVER!

Id have to say, owning a total of 5 decks so far, and installing more than that, this is one REALLY good deck! It all started with the purchase of the lower model which was on sale on black friday for 50 bux with a pair of junky DUAL speakers. I figured, why not on that one. IT had been the best deck i had bought! Better than the alpine OR the Pioneer! Well, when this one went on sale to 200, i couldnt resist. Being a computer geek i thought it was AWESOME!
As neone knows, the max wattage means absolutly nothing. its the RMS (root mean square) which counts!
This ones RMS wattage is with the big boys!
at 22 Watts RMS per channel, u felt the power! which is surprising as it pushed MB quarts components (2 6.5" sets, VW) which were rated at 80 RMS!
Match that with the sub output and it was a decent system!
Now i wish i had put it up to an amp, cause the preamp are 3v which is pretty decent.
The sd card reader was quick and worked like a champ
the usb reader was tricky to use if u werent using a thumb drive. I finally reformatted my external harddrive to Fat32 and it worked fine. The quality was good, little distortion at the high ends
the flip down face plate was nice and detachable, and i strung an RCA cable with a 3.5" adapter so i could hook up my laptop OR my 20 gig mp3 player (or my insignia 2gig mp3 player!) on the go!
the mp3 function is where i get iffy, when i burn a cd i fill it. And this was the second cd/mp3 deck i had owned. Compared to my new 07 civic stock deck, it is SLOW in reading the same 120 song Mp3 cd. Its quality is just as good, but the read time will kill u, so make sure if ur buying it, dont fill a cd like i do. It will read for a very long time.
WMA playback was quick, but being that WMA is not as nice of a quality, it never sounded as nice.
Personal favs were the sd card, the remote (which i would use thru the back window with my trunk open when showwing off my system) and the rear inputs.
generally i dont use equalizers on any deck cause they make the song sound horrible, that goes for any brand, including Infinity! just crank it up at the amp if u want more bass or more treble, or a dip in the centerline!
If you are doing a serious sound sytem on minimal cash, this is def. the head unit for you. Youll find its fully featured for us tech and computer nerds, and has some power. If your using it for everyday use, its even better! As with any head unit, i ALWAYS suggest a seperate amp for your speakers, just due to quality.
There is no head unit i have tested in my multiple installs that sounds better than the insignia ns-c5111
BUT if you want to play CD/mp3s, try looking at newer decks than this. They will read them faster.
i mean come on, it has a remote! haha what more do u want from it! (remote can turn subwoofer output on and off as well, equalizer, change modes, volume and channels, shut off/on the head unit)
